‘Are You Afraid of the Dark’ Revival Season 2: Release Date, Storyline and Other Things We Know About It
The limited series revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark generated a lot of buzz for Nickelodeon and it will be back on the network soon. Nickelodeon has now dropped a new trailer for it and has revealed a lot of more details about what to expect from it.
The limited series was only going to have one season at first
The revivaal series is based on the original Canadian anthology series that aired on Nickelodeon and Canada’s YTV. The original series ran from 199 to 1996.
Almost a year ago, Nickelodeon said in a press statement that the show had been renewed for season 2. It was first initially intended as a limited series, but it was decided that more would come from it.
“I think we all went into this with the intention that there would be many, many, many more,” he told TV Guide in October 2019. “I think we’ll always lean into the Midnight Society, how that story unfolds, whether you go with an anthology, whether you go extend it into more episodes, that’s something we’ll react to when we see what people think.”
Before becoming a limited series, the revivial was going to be a theatrically-released feature film. Also, this is actually the second revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark? The first revival ran from 1999 to 2000.
The first season of the revival series
The second revival is much different from the original series and the first revival. Instead of the Midnight Society telling stories each episode and those individual stories anchor the episodes, the Midnight Society themselves are involved in the actual story and the whole season has an overarching plot.
For the first season, one of the stories told by its members becomes the main story. of the season as they investigate it and try to save their town. The members in the first season are played by Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech, Tamara Smart, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Lyliana Wray.
Nickelodeon drops the trailer for the second season
The second season of the show, called Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows has an entirely new cast. The characters are Luke, played by Bryce Gheisar; Jai, played by Arjun Athalye; Hanna, played by Beatrice Kitsos; Gabby, played by Malia Baker; Seth, played by Dominic Mariche; and Connor, played by Parker Queenan.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows follows an all-new Midnight Society group of kids who learn of the terrifying curse cast over their small seaside town, and are haunted by a mysterious creature known as the Shadowman. In the just-released trailer, viewers are introduced to the new Midnight Society members and get a glimpse at the horrors that await them in the shadows.
The six-episode season premieres, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon. New episodes will air each Friday night.
