It’s been two years since rapper Mac Miller passed away from an accidental drug overdose. The artist was best known for his chart-topping hits, but many also recognize him for his high-profile relationship with singer Ariana Grande, which began in 2016, years after they first worked together.

While many take down social media posts featuring their exes after moving on, that didn’t prove to be true in this case. After they split in 2018, Grande kept her Instagram photos and videos with Miller up, show that their connection was anything but fleeting. Here are a few of the sweetest in her grid.

Their early days

After being friends for years, Grande and Miller confirmed their relationship on social media in September 2016. After recently collaborating on his Divine Feminine track “My Favorite Part,” Miller had spoken about their status. Still, Grande made it official on her end on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that month.

From there, the two continued to document their love publicly. As an onslaught of paparazzi shots cropped up in tabloids, Grande and Miller embraced being open about their relationship. Grande shared the above photo of them kissing outside.

Spending holidays together

Miller and Grande’s first holiday season as a couple was an adorable one. First, they went all out for Halloween 2016 together, dressing up as the young lead characters Sam and Suzy from the Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom. They also dressed up as Pokémon Eevee and Pikachu.

A few days after Thanksgiving, Grande shared a video of herself and Miller, indicating that they may have spent that holiday together, too. She posted a couple more times with him over the next month. And on Christmas Day 2016, she shared the above pic of her wearing antlers, kissing Miller.

Hugging at Grande’s benefit concert

On May 22, 2017, Grande performed in Manchester, England for her Dangerous Woman Tour. As fans were leaving the concert, a bomb went off, killing 22 people and injuring many more. Grande, devastated by the incident, stopped her tour, but later returned to the city for a benefit show.

The concert, One Love Manchester, took place on June 4, 2017. Grande brought with her many musical acts, like Miley Cyrus. There to both support his girlfriend and perform was Miller. Together, they sang their hit song, “The Way,” and were seen embracing on stage. Grande later shared a photo of this (above) on her Instagram.

Grande’s memorial for Miller

After Miller passed away, Grande shared a short video of him on Instagram. In it, he’s talking, but Grande kept the audio for herself, instead focusing on sharing his smile with the world. In the caption, she wrote, “i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will.
