Every year since 2019, Parrot Analytics releases data about the most “in-demand” television shows from the past 12 months. According to this year’s Global TV Demand Awards, Attack on Titan was the most in-demand series worldwide throughout 2021. Naturally, it was also the most sought-after anime.

This is an exciting achievement for the shonen series, and it emphasizes just how much fans have looked forward to its final season. It’s probably no coincidence that the anime is snagging this honor as its last outing unfolds.

According to the event’s website, the winners of the Global TV Demand Awards are decided upon using Parrot Analytics’ global audience demand measurement system. So, it’s the viewers driving Attack on Titan‘s big milestone. And the accomplishment helped the anime make history in a significant way.

Not only does Attack on Titan claim the title of most in-demand series of 2021, but the anime makes history in doing so. According to Anime News Network, the show is the first non-English language project to come out on top of the Global TV Demand Awards.

Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead have dominated the “World’s Choice” category in previous years. That puts Attack on Titan on par with two of the biggest television series of all time.

With Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 currently underway, it’s possible the anime could become the most in-demand series a second time as well. It’s something to look out for when Parrot Analytics releases 2022 data next year.

New episodes of the series are currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.
