Zellweger was born in Katy, Texas, on April 25, 1969. Her parents, Kjellfrid Irene Andreassen and Emil Erich Zellweger, married in 1963. Zellweger is of Norwegian and Swiss ancestry, respectively, by her parents. They had another child as well named Drew Zellweger, who was born in 1967. Zellweger went to Katy High School and took part in cheerleading as well as gymnastics and other physical sports.
