Television is chock-full of reality shows today. Since there are so many to choose from, it can be hard for these types of shows to stand out among the competition. TLC seems to have it all figured out, though. Their unique series 90-Day Fiance was an instant hit, quickly amassing a huge fan base. The show takes an in-depth look at the struggle of couples trying to determine whether they should marry. As if that isn’t stressful enough, they are on a major time crunch. 90 days, to be exact.

The show has had plenty of memorable couples throughout the years, but one particularly volatile relationship is making headlines lately. Lisa “Babygirl” Hamme and Usman “Sojaboy” Umar have a seriously messed up relationship, and it just keeps getting worse.

What is ’90-Day Fiance’?

TLC’s 90-Day Fiance follows U.S. residents and their foreign fiances on their way to the altar. The visitors to the U.S. are here on the K-1 visa program, which allows a fiance to stay in the country for 90 days, according to Vulture. If the couple doesn’t marry by the 90th day, the visitor has to leave.

The show became so popular it resulted in multiple spin-offs. Before the 90 Days focuses on the couples’ early relationship while Happily Ever After? examines their lives after they get married. The Other Way is kind of a reversal of 90-Day Fiance, with the U.S. citizen traveling to other countries to find love.

90-Day Fiance has become such a hit that last fall, it had over two million same-day viewers. Fans get completely wrapped up in the couple’s relationship woes, with many taking to social media to voice their opinions.

Was Usman ‘Sojaboy’ Umar on ’90-Day Fiance’ just to further his career?

Umar had a music career in Nigeria, and wanted a green card, so he could further his career in the United States. Lisa “Babygirl” Hamme is 33 years Umar’s senior. The older woman was incredibly jealous of his female fans. In addition to Hamme’s insane jealousy, the couple argued constantly and had numerous disagreements on the show. Amazingly, they still got married.

Hamme has accused Umar of being a scammer, which certainly wouldn’t help his hopes to become a famous rapper here in the states. When watching the show, it’s hard to understand why this couple would have gotten married in the first place. They seem to have nothing in common, and they have a huge age difference.

Even other stars on the show believe that Umar had no other reason for being with Hamme. In an interview on the Domenick Nati Show, Umar admitted that he did use TLC to gain popularity in the U.S. He also stated that the network used him as well.

Was Hamme jealous of the girl in his video?

Some say Hamme deliberately tried to sabotage Umar’s career because of a love interest in his music video “I Love You.” The song was written for Hamme, but Umar recently revamped the video. The major change? The addition of a beautiful young model.

Fans completely expected Hamme to go on a typical angry rant, but oddly enough, she didn’t, according to TV Shows Ace. Many expect that her unusually mellow reaction had something to do with the fact that the couple already split at that point.

Since then, the couple has spent a lot of time in the social media spotlight. Hamme was allegedly fired from TLC for her use of racial slurs in reference to Umar, which she has denied. The Nigerian musician also claims that his estranged wife stole money from him, while she insists that she loaned him far more than he has ever repaid her.

The messy break up continues to capture fans’ attention. Umar’s videos and comments continue to draw more negative attention. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be wrapped up anytime soon, either, as Hamme recently stated that she is still waiting for divorce papers.
