Former bachelor Colton Underwood and his season winner Cassie Randolph announced on May 29 that they’d broken up. When Bachelor couples split, they often release one unified statement. Randolph and Underwood posted two separate captions to announce their breakup. But in both captions, the reality TV stars wrote about wanting to remain close.

Cassie Randolph’s ‘The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever!’ interview

Then, on July 6, Randolph did an interview with Chris Harrison on The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever! She was asked about her split with Underwood but remained pretty tight-lipped with the details.

“It’s kind of like a sensitive subject because I feel like we’re still kind of going through it and it’s still pretty emotional for both of us. And we haven’t really talked about it publically yet and I don’t know if either of us is ready,” Randolph told Harrison.

“But I will say it’s been really hard. I think going through any breakup is hard, but going through one in public comes with a whole new set of challenges that, like, I’ve never gone through any of this before. We’re both kind of learning to navigate it. But we’re on good terms and hanging in there,” she continued.

After the interview went live, Randolph took to her Instagram stories to voice that she was frustrated with the editing. She said she and Harrison had spoken about lots of other topics besides her breakup with Underwood, but none of them were featured.

“There’s so much more to me than just my past relationship,” she said.

Colton’s reaction to Cassie’s interview

Shortly after the interview aired, Underwood took to Instagram to post a caption about gaining “so much clarity.”

“When our relationship ended we agreed to handle things as privately as possible as we attempted to navigate our new relationship as friends. I chose to do that since we were living in this interim period, but obviously a lot changed this week,” he wrote.

The former football player also wrote that he’s “so excited for this next chapter of my life with new stories and new people.”

Some Bachelor fans took the cation to be a shot at Randolph. And Randolph did, too, per her Instagram story asking Underwood to “refrain from prolonging our breakup, or dragging me, when we both know it’s unwarranted.”

The ‘Bachelor’ fans who think Colton Underwood is being hypocritical

Of course, since Underwood and Randolph’s breakup turned dramatic, Bachelor Nation has been weighing in with their thoughts. Some fans feel the former football player “is a major hypocrite” for his behavior following Randolph’s interview.

“I personally feel that once you break up, neither person has the right to tell the other what to discuss. It’s so controlling,” wrote one Reddit user.

“But don’t you think it’s a little different if both people are in the public eye and both agree to not do press? It’s not the same as discussing it with people you actually know,” another Reddit user argued.

But other fans of the show feel if Underwood can reveal the intricacies of his relationship with Randolph in his book, then Randolph can give interviews (especially when she doesn’t give details about the breakup).

“If Colton is allowed to write a whole a*s book and reveal private information about their relationship then Cassie is allowed to give interviews where she actually doesn’t give any private information,” wrote one fan.

“Wait yeah wtf, you’re so right. Colton is a major hypocrite,” agreed another Reddit user.

“Yeah! I feel bad for Cassie. Good for her for leaving!” chimed in another.

Underwood has plenty of fans supporting him as well (as he noted in his Instagram caption). Sometimes breakups get messy and people often can’t help but take sides. Randolph and Underwood’s split got messy on Instagram, where they have millions of followers. That’s a lot of people taking sides.
