Get ready, Bachelor Nation fans. Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor is about to receive a two-night special event on Monday, Feb. 3, and Wednesday, Feb. 5. Of course, this means we’re about to get a whole lot of drama within one week. Aside from the mess left behind after Weber invited Alayah Benavidez back into the house, there’s more to come when the cast travels to Costa Rica. According to The Bachelor Week 5 promo, Weber will suffer the “freak accident” which resulted in the airline pilot’s facial injury. And per ABC, it seems the incident will lead to some character building on Weber’s part.

Details on Peter Weber’s ‘freak accident’ while filming ‘The Bachelor’

Long before The Bachelor Season 24 premiere, Us Weekly reported on Weber’s accident while filming his season. The publication revealed Weber suffered a “serious injury” while golfing in Costa Rica on Monday, Oct. 7.

Meanwhile, Radar Online revealed how Weber’s accident happened. “He went to step on the cart but fell and split his face open on two cocktail glasses he was carrying,” a source told the publication. Weber also reportedly received 22 stitches.

Shortly after, host Chris Harrison released a statement in regards to Weber’s injury, ensuring the bachelor was doing just fine with production already back on track.

“There’s been some wild claims and rumors about Peter today,” Harrison wrote on Instagram. “Peter suffered a freak accident. He got a cut on his head, he did get stitches but he’s 100% OK and production is already back underway. He’s still the dashing, handsome pilot we’ve all dreamed of.”

‘The Bachelor’ Week 5 will include Peter Weber’s accident

In the promo trailer for The Bachelor Season 24 Episode 5, everyone travels to Costa Rica where the drama continues to boil over. Midway through the preview, a shot of an ambulance appears.

“Peter,” someone screams offscreen.

Then on Jan. 28, People released a new promo for The Bachelor Week 5. There’s quite a bit going down between Kelsey Weier and Tammy Ly. But later, fans see the same ambulance shot as the original preview. And it’s followed up by Weber holding a towel up to his face.

Meanwhile, a press release courtesy of ABC confirms Weber’s accident happens in The Bachelor episode airing on Monday, Feb. 3. According to the synopsis, the week 5 episode will pick up where the previous week left off. But then Weber “gives the women a shock” as “an unfortunate accident has left a 22-stitch scar on his forehead.”

The synopsis continues: “The remaining women follow Peter to Costa Rica and are stunned when they see the scar on his forehead. Peter shares the crazy story of his character-building wound.”

Peter Weber opens up about his accident on ‘The Bachelor’ Season 24

On Dec. 31, People released a feature with Weber, who delved into his golfing accident on The Bachelor. And as Harrison mentioned at the time of the incident, it was just a “freak accident.”

“It really wasn’t as bad of an injury as people thought. I bumped my head on the top of the cart,” Weber said. “As I reacted, I put my head down and brought my hand up, but I had a glass in my hand…[The glass] shattered and ended up slicing my forehead open.”

Meanwhile, Weber revealed he didn’t feel any pain due to adrenaline. However, there was a lot of blood. “It wasn’t until a couple hours in when it just kind of settled down,” he said. “But the actual act of it, though, there was no pain. Blood everywhere, but no pain.”

And of course, the bachelor is thankful for his plastic surgeon. “Thank God he was there to stay open late and sew me up,” Weber said. “He did a really good job. And now, I got a good battle scar. It’s a memory that will always remind me of this journey.”

Then when speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Jan. 2, Weber echoed his previous statement, sharing the accident “looked like a murder scene” as his “forehead was literally split open.” Weber also detailed how his Bachelor contestants reacted to the accident, possibly explaining the odd “character-building” comment in the synopsis.

“It didn’t slow [production] down, which is cool. But I walk up and I see them for the first time and they were just like, ‘Oh. OMG, what happened?'” Weber said. “I told them some crazy story like I fought a Puma off in the jungle to kind of like make it sound better.”

He continued: “It kind of does play a role in a little bit later on in the season. I’m not gonna spoil it, but it’s actually kind of cool. The girls took care of me. They definitely kind of felt bad about it. But I wasn’t gonna let this slow down my journey to find what I really wanted and it’s all good. I got a battle scar now. Chicks dig scars, so I’m chilling.”
