There’s no way to deny it — Rachel Lindsay is a blessing to The Bachelor franchise. The Bachelor Happy Hour host first appeared on Nick Viall’s season. She then became The Bachelorette lead in 2017. Now, the Texan consistently challenges the franchise to become better, raising valid questions about the show’s diversity — or lack thereof. So what about the former reality star’s love life? Lindsay is happily married to her Bachelorette final pick, Bryan Abasolo.

Rachel Lindsay and Nick Viall broke up on ‘The Bachelor’

On Aug. 31, ABC will air a recap of Viall’s journey during The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever. So fans will get to relive some of Lindsay’s early days on the franchise. The pair met in 2017, and they seemed to hit it off right away. But even so, Viall and Lindsay did not end up together.

In the end, Viall picked Vanessa Grimaldi on The Bachelor. Meanwhile, Lindsay and Viall bid a tearful farewell in the ninth week. That said, it seems the exes are on friendly terms now.

A few months after The Bachelor, Lindsay got to embark on her own Bachelorette journey. But when she was initially approached by producers, Lindsay didn’t want the role.

“When they offered me The Bachelorette, I told them no,” Lindsay told Page Six in August 2020. But when a mother reminded the reality star about the impact of the first Black bachelorette, Lindsay reconsidered. She said:

It was a mother coming up to me saying, “I heard you’re going to be on The Bachelorette. My daughter stopped watching the show. But she’s gonna start watching it again because there’s [minority] representation.” And I said, “OK then I have to do The Bachelorette.” I wasn’t even thinking about the bigger picture.

Then at the end of Lindsay’s season, the 35-year-old met her perfect match. And in the finale, Lindsay picked Abasolo over Peter Kraus. The couple got engaged in Rioja, Spain.

Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo are married now

Now, it’s been three years since Lindsay and Abasolo got together on The Bachelorette Season 13, and a few things have changed. In August 2019, the couple got married. They held their wedding in Cancun and spent their honeymoon in Greece. The former reality stars also celebrated their one-year anniversary recently.

“One year + FOREVER…I love you and I am beyond thankful for you,” Lindsay wrote on Aug. 24.

Then in his own Instagram post, Abasolo wrote:

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we both said “I Do”! I consider myself beyond lucky to be able to call you my wife and truly blessed to be your husband. I wake up every single day a better man because you are always there to support, encourage, and love me no matter what. You are my rock and my best friend. Thank you for the memories we have shared together this year and I look forward to many many more. I love you @therachlindsay Happy Anniversary!

Fans Are Standing Up for Rachel Lindsay After She Was Attacked on Social Media

Meanwhile, when speaking with Us Weekly in October 2019, Lindsay and Abasolo revealed they’re ready to be parents.

“We hope [to have kids] sooner rather than later,” Lindsay said. “We’re not preventing it. But if we’re planning, in the next year.”

Lindsay and Abasolo’s relationship will also be put to the test once things return to normal. The former bachelorette is expecting to be bicoastal due to work.

“I love to work. I’m addicted to working, clearly, and rather than holding that against me, Brian loves it and he’s super supportive of it,” Lindsay said, per Us Weekly. “We have an understanding, we talk it out. It’s not always easy. But he’s supportive of what I’m doing and I’m supportive of what he’s doing because he has his own practice here in Miami.”

She later added, “If we can survive The Bachelorette and having everybody against our relationship … we can do anything. We got this now.”
