Fortnite, but make it fashion. Luxury fashion brand Balenciaga unveiled a collaboration with Fortnite on Sept. 20, featuring real and in-game products. While the battle royale game often partners with brands to bring new skins and accessories to its item shop, the chance for players to match their in-game characters is rare. However, those who wish to do so will have to pay hundreds of dollars. Many fans have taken to Twitter to share how ridiculous they think Balenciaga’s high prices are for the Fortnite collection.

Balenciaga’s ‘Fortnite’ collection includes hats, T-shirts, denim jackets, and more

Balenciaga launched its Fortnite collection on Sept. 20, though some regions will see the items on Sept. 21. Interested buyers can shop the collection in stores and on Balenciaga’s website.

The Fortnite collection features a range of products from hats and sunglasses to sweatshirts and denim jackets. Most products say “Fortnite” on the front in Epic Games’ lettering with “Balenciaga” underneath. Additionally, the back features the same logos and “Retail Row,” a location on the Fortnite map, in several languages. The products mostly come in red, white, and black, but a light-wash denim jacket is also available.

The lowest-priced item in the collection is a baseball cap at $395, but other pieces go up to $1,290. A short-sleeved T-shirt is $495, while a sweatshirt costs $725.

Some ‘Fortnite’ fans have joked about the high prices

The Fortnite collection has so far received some mixed responses on social media. Some fans of the game joked that there might not be much of a correlation between Fortnite players and Balenciaga shoppers.

“Cursed collab,” one Twitter user wrote alongside a screenshot of the website.

Another user shared a doctored image of a Google search for the definition of fashion, which stated, “Not a Fortnite x Balenciaga collaboration.”

“Pov: Fortnite asked you to search up what fashion is, and you did,” the caption read.

“Timmy asking his mom to buy him the new Fortnite Balenciaga hoodie to show off to his friends,” another tweet read, referencing the battle royale’s younger player base.

Some Twitter users couldn’t believe the high prices, which are typical for designer clothing, no matter how simple the designs may be. However, others excitedly shared that they’ve already purchased one of the products. Many users declared that they would also make a purchase in exchange for a certain number of likes.

Thankfully, those who are on the fence about the real products can still enjoy them virtually. Epic Games revealed four in-game outfits, including the same Fortnite x Balenciaga sweatshirt. There’s also a chained top with ripped jeans, a tiger-print catsuit, and a renaissance-looking “game knight” look with armor, shorts, and a jacket.

In addition to the outfits, the collection features virtual accessories, including a line of backpacks, sneaker-shaped pickaxes, a glider, and an emote. Players can also complete quests from Sept. 21 to Sept. 28 to receive the Knight Looks Spray and the Fashion Doggo Spray.

The Fortnite x Balenciaga collection is available now in the Item Shop.
