Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean was put into a “which would you rather” situation when she was asked if she’d rather dine on chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran’s infamous “Vegas Night” dinner. Or if she’d prefer to dig into one of chef Mila Kolomeitseva’s steaks, which she licked and then microwaved.

Yawn fired both chefs when they appeared on the show. Kolomeitseva only made it for a few charters after she insisted on serving meals created from boxed mixes like Old El Paso and Aunt Jemima. Lorran usually delivered exquisite meals but his Vegas Night dinner resembled a child’s birthday party. He panicked and agreed to leave the boat. But now Yawn shares where she comes down on which meal she’d prefer and her answer is not surprising.

Captain Sandy would rather dine on the ‘Vegas Night’ meal

Yawn didn’t hesitate when presented the question. “OK, Kiko’s Vegas dinner,” she said during a fun round of questions on the Scissoring Isn’t A Thing podcast. Host Daryn Carp laughed sharing that once Kolomeitseva put the steak in the microwave it was a “nope” for her.

“She licked it!” Yawn added. “She licked the steak!” Meanwhile, the podcast hosts continued to be pretty grossed out over the steak, especially in a world of Covid.

But Yawn revealed that she took no pleasure in firing Kolomeitseva, despite the fact she clearly needed to be replaced. “You know, when you get fired, it doesn’t feel good,” she said on Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast. “You feel like a loser. I’ll speak for me: I’ve been let go before. When you build their character and then you have to say, ‘I have to let you go and this is why,’ at least they know they have great qualities; they just don’t have the skill set. As far as Mila goes, she was always respectful to me. I didn’t see her in the galley.” Adding, “I wasn’t in the van. I don’t see that. But in front of her boss, she was gracious, kind, ‘Yes, Captain, always.'”

However, Yawn was shocked, especially when she viewed the footage. “Chef Cordon Bleu, like come on, Paris-trained. You want to believe people,” she added. “It was a shock to me. Poor Hannah [Ferrier]. Like, I had no idea. I don’t see what happens until I watch the show. And what Hannah went through in the galley with her and how Hannah refused to serve certain dishes, I’m so grateful. When she told me about the nachos and I walked through and I was like, ‘The tacos? Are these for the guests?'”

As for Lorran, Yawn just felt that he wasn’t quite ready to be the head chef on a superyacht. “When someone says their main goal is to prove to themselves that they really want to make this work, it’s two-part,” Yawn said when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“He’s proving to himself that he can do this when he doesn’t clearly have the skill set,” she continued. “So, for me, that’s really selfish, because when you’re making it about you, and you’re going to tackle this, but you don’t have the proper training, you’re affecting the whole. As a captain, I have to make sure the whole is getting everything they need, and Kiko was only thinking about Kiko and what his goal was.”
