The Below Deck Mediterranean captain’s soulmate is a professional singer, considered to be the Denver Broncos “good luck” charm. She often sings the National Anthem at Broncos games and the team typically wins. Now that everyone is quarantined at home, Shafer wanted to lend her talents to help pick up spirits and bring a little joy to everyone stuck at home.

Yawn is sharing Shafer’s videos to her Instagram. “God Bless America,” Yawn remarked along with Shafer’s first video. She sang, “God Bless America,” giving the song her signature soulful vocal power. “I asked Leah to sing for us all. She promised to sing every day to us until the virus is gone. Stay safe everyone and let’s all sing together! Send me your videos so I can post on my Instagram TV! Send videos to my email.”

A new song every day

Fans are often blown away when they hear Shafer sing. Many reacted after Yawn posted her first video. “Beautiful and inspiring! 💕,” comedian Amy Phillips wrote. “Wow. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for that!!!” another person added.

A few people noted that Shafer “sings like an angel.” And, “Wow! She’s pretty to look at and listen too! Double whammy! 😘❤️ Beautiful, thanks for sharing!!”

Shafer belted out her rendition of “Over the Rainbow” the next day. Yawn joked about how Shafer’s phone kept “dinging” during the performance. “Somewhere Over a Rainbow,” Yawn introduced the tune. “So Leah asked me to edit this because when she was singing her phone kept going off. She forgot to put in in airplane mode.😊 I think it’s perfect because it’s real life. I hope you enjoy this. Hang in there everyone!” Of course, the performance once again blew people away as many started making song requests.

And a message too

Yawn’s latest video included a message to people who are struggling with their sobriety. Last spring Yawn shared exclusively with Showbiz Cheat Sheet she was an alcoholic and had been sober for decades. She also mentored a young crew member this season who drank far too much during crew outings.

She took to Instagram to acknowledge that many people are probably struggling with their sobriety due to stress from the coronavirus threat. Yawn shared another gorgeous song from Shafer and added that she was here to support her fans and network. Despite a snowstorm on its way, Yawn was disappointed she couldn’t go skiing or snowboarding.

Adding, “I just want to share with a lot of you, who have stopped drinking. If you’re struggling there’s meetings you can go to online. There’s a link on my Facebook page. I struggle too. It certainly crossed my mind. This is so stressful. In my lifetime, I have never experienced anything like this. I keep trying to find the positive. I can’t turn the news on anymore. Oh my gosh, you’d think it’s Armageddon.” She added, “If you’re struggling and you need some support, I’ll leave you a message.” Yawn said to send her a direct message but to be patient as she receives a slew of messages.
