‘Below Deck’: Would Kate Chastain Work With Raquel ‘Rocky’ Dakota Again?
Does time heal all wounds? Raquel “Rocky” Dakota and chief stew Kate Chastain didn’t have the best working relationship on Below Deck season 3 and it doesn’t appear that the two have gotten any closer to being pals.
When the crew appeared on the Watch What Happens Live Below Deck 100th episode celebration, Dakota was confronted with the question of why she and Chastain didn’t meld. “Because she’s awesome in her own way and I’m awesome in my own way,” Dakota answered, which Chastain seemed to appreciate. However, the room became awkward when Dakota was asked about a favorite moment. Chastain pointed out an iconic moment was when Dakota dove off the top of the boat. She continued to compliment Dakota but then the conversation took an uncomfortable turn.
“But how come you say I’m not the best yachtie,” Dakota asked Chastain. Chastain reminded Dakota that it is mainly because jumped off the yacht in her underwear. But Dakota returned, saying she went to culinary school with the notion she’d be a sous chef on the yacht instead of a low ranking stew. Captain Lee Rosbach added, “It’s like deja vu all over,” as the women began to argue. Chastain also seemed to be taken aback. “This just took a turn I was not expecting.”
How did Chastain answer the stew question?
Chastain was asked which stews would she work with again on the WWHL After Show. The entire returning group was present and Chastain’s answer was very specific. Cohen asks Chastain to pick two stews from all the seasons. “I mean, Amy’s amazing,” Chastain says looking around the room. “Can I pick three? Amy, Josiah, Jen. Kat’s really fun. I like them all.” While Chastain didn’t single Dakota out but she was the only stew present that Chastain did not name.
Dakota sat nearby and was later asked if she regretted anything about her time on Below Deck. “I don’t regret the show,” she said. “I really enjoyed it and I thought overall it was a great experience and I grew a lot and I learned a lot.”
But when Cohen wanted to know who Dakota keeps in touch with, she said not a single cast member. Cohen asked about deckhand Emile Kotze. Even though Kotze had a crush on Dakota, he ultimately became the closest friend she had on the boat. Dakota said she didn’t keep in touch with Kotze.
Dakota seems just fine
Even though it doesn’t seem like there is any love lost between Dakota and Chastain, she’s happy living in Hawaii. She told Cohen she’s working as a massage therapist and yoga instructor. Dakota often shares photos of impressive yoga poses or dives. “Flying through the sky!” she commented on an amazing dive.
Dakota is also more fit than ever. She recently revealed her favorite healthy snack. “My favorite snack is a firm and bright local apple banana. I prefer them, at their fullest, when they are three quarters yellow with green. I dress them up in different ways, and that’s the way I like to start my day,” she shared. Dakota also loves “clean and hearty granola and I like it covered in chilled almond mylk.”
