This last season of Better Call Saul has to answer big, obvious questions like Kim Wexler’s fate, what happens to Saul Goodman, and how he fully transforms from Jimmy McGill. But that’s not all. Equally important is what happens to Lalo Salamanca in Better Call Saul.

Developed from a casual line in Breaking Bad, Lalo has become one of the greatest characters in Better Call Saul. He’s murderous and terrifying, but he has such charm and intelligence that many viewers have even found themselves rooting for his survival. His fate could go either way at this point, but after the latest events on the show, some are sold on Lalo’s death in Better Call Saul.

Lalo’s pursuit of Gus Fring in ‘Better Call Saul’ has sparked concern among fans

This season finds Lalo on the hunt for revenge after surviving the attempt on his life. Immediately suspecting Gus Fring, Lalo arranged to leave Mexico to return to Albuquerque and find him. Lalo found a caravan heading back over the border, but before he boarded, he made a quick call to his uncle, Hector Salamanca.

On the phone, Lalo shared that he survived and that he believed Gus Fring orchestrated the hit. When asked if he any had proof, Lalo glumly said no, but then it clicked. Remembering men building something for Gus, Lalo decided against going back over the border and left for Germany to investigate.

Knowing he’s still out there, a nerve-ridden Gus ramped up his security. Mike Ehrmantraut assured him that there’s no way Lalo could get inside — not even in the lab. But Gus checked it out anyway, storing a gun there just in case.

Some ‘Better Call Saul’ fans think Lalo dies — and they even think they know where he’s buried

Fans shared their predictions for the outcome of Lalo and Gus’ fight on Reddit. Many said the same thing, that Lalo might be killed by Gus and that Gus would bury him in his lab.

“Gus is going to come forward to Lalo about the super lab. Get Lalo down in said super lab and murder him,” read one comment. “That’s why Gus left his gun behind, hidden incase he is searched beforehand.”

Another fan agreed that “Gus has suspicions of where Lalo went and is gonna lead him through a trail of circumstances: Werner’s home, Madrigal, Kai, info on the lab, and finally to the lab itself. I really hope Lalo doesn’t get killed in the lab and buried there because that’s such a good theory, and if it’s true, I wish I didn’t hear it before.”

Someone else stated that, “Lalo being by himself on the lab would make sense for the sake of narrative and getting Lalo killed before [Breaking Bad] but I think it would be unrealistic and out of character for Lalo to get there by himself, I hope its well justified.”

Others, however, had different opinions

At the same time, some readers couldn’t envision it happening.

“Why does everybody think lalo will be buried in the superlab?” read one comment. “Okay, there could be a face-off in the lab and it certainly seems like a nice secretive place for a body but are there any clues for Lalo being buried there in BB or something?”

“Whether its a leak or a theory I think it caught on because it has that fun ironic sting to it,” one fan replied. “Lalo has been trying to uncover the superlab, and as soon as he does, he gets entombed inside of it. It has a poetic element to it that simply dying to a bullet lacks.”

But someone else said they “don’t think Lalo being sealed in the labs walls or floor makes sense. First, there’s probably rebar in there, so they won’t fit him. But even if there’s a section of concrete without it, it’s gonna make it less durable and that would not be… Acceptable.”
