‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 Image Teases Lalo’s Next Move After Surviving Assassination Attempt

Lalo Salamanca nearly died in 'Better Call Saul' Season 5, but he was miraculously able to survive the attack. Season 6 will cover the aftermath of that and, from the looks of a new teaser image, it might not be pretty. See the photo here.

There’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to Better Call Saul Season 6, but especially with Lalo Salamanca.

While he’s still fairly new to the series, introduced only in season 4, Lalo has grown to be one of the best and most entertaining characters on the show. Normally laid-back, he has another side to him that has rattled almost everyone who’s ever witnessed it. That’s sure to come out once again now that he’s survived the attempt on his life. But what’s his very first move? This new teaser image for Better Call Saul might offer some insight.

A quick recap of what happened to Lalo in ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 5

To recap, at Don Eladio’s Hacienda, Nacho Varga moved forward with the plan to kill Lalo. Creating a distraction, he left a pan of hot oil on the stove that made the air smoky and then went to unlock a back gate to let the assassins in.

Out of pure luck, Lalo spotted one of the shooters and was able to escape without any serious injuries. After making his way through an underground tunnel, he snuck back inside and took out the assassins one-by-one, including a shooter who insisted he didn’t know the man behind the job.

“That’s okay. I do,” Lalo said, before making the man call his superior to report the assassination attempt had been successful. He then looked over to where he had been sitting with Nacho earlier in the evening, realizing he’d facilitated the attempt. The last scene of Lalo shows him leaving the compound with a look of vengeance on his face.

‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 will pick up from there

As production on season six continues, the Twitter account for Better Call Saul posted a photo showing Lalo approaching Gus Fring and an associate.

“Did you miss me,” reads the caption, which could hint at an altercation between Lalo and Gus for ordering the hit on him.

So far, not much is known about Lalo’s storyline in season 6, but Tony Dalton, who plays him, previously told Entertainment Weekly he thinks Nacho is dead. “He should be really scared,” he continued.

Dalton, however, noted he hadn’t heard much about what exactly happens in season 6. “I don’t know what these guys are going to come up with, but I will tell you one thing, which is one of the great things about this show and the writers is that you don’t know what’s going to happen,” he added. “A lot of these shows, you’re like, ‘Oh, I know. This guy is going to die,’ or something like that. Here, they really throw curveballs at you. So I have no idea what to expect, but I know it will be great.”

There’s still no set release date for Better Call Saul Season 6, but it will come out sometime in 2022.
