You’d be hard-pressed to find a time when Beyoncé isn’t in the spotlight, but the release of her upcoming visual album Black is King on Disney+ has the world extra abuzz about the groundbreaking and trendsetting star. Beyoncé’s talents are multi-faceted and include not only her incredible vocal abilities but also her creative genius when it comes to creating innovative visual accompaniments for her musical endeavors, an impressive acting career, and an unparalleled business savvy

On top of all that, fans are constantly blown away by the artist’s impressive appearance. She always manages to look put together and glamorous, and she’s not afraid to share her beauty secrets with the world.

It might be hard to imagine someone as universally praised for her beauty as Beyoncé to have struggles with body image issues, but the singer has definitely had her fair share of self-criticism. The star has not always loved the curvy body that has so many fans jealous.

In fact, she explained that her younger self would never have believed the confidence she now has about her body was possible: “If someone told me 15 years ago that my body would go through so many changes and fluctuations, and that I would feel more womanly and secure with my curves, I would not have believed them.”

This is a subject that featured heavily on Beyoncé’s self-titled album and accompanying visual project, particularly on the track “Pretty Hurts.” Starring in the video herself, Beyoncé played the role of a beauty pageant participant driven to tears by the expectations placed upon her and her fellow participants to look perfect by impossible standards.

“I wish more people focused on discovering the beauty within themselves rather than critiquing other folks’ grills,” the singer explained about her newfound and more mature approach to accepting herself as she is.

Beyoncé’s beauty tips are surprisingly accessible

Plenty of stars rave about pricey procedures and products that most everyday people could never afford, but Beyoncé often praises extremely accessible products. One of her favorites is a $7 drugstore find. The singer is mad about Smith’s Rosebud Salve, which she says she uses for everything.

She revealed: “I love the Rosebud Salve in the blue can. [Ed note: It’s Smith’s!] I wear it with my lipstick. I did this trick last summer, when I was on vacation: I used it to prime my lashes before curling. It was like a natural mascara. It made the lashes hold the curl and look shiny. I use it for everything!”

The product has a long and storied history, dating all the way back to 1892 when it was created by a pharmacist who sold the beauty salve out of his own drugstore. The product is an impressive enough piece of American history to have earned itself a spot in the Smithsonian museum. It’s quite a feat to simultaneously be featured in an exhibit about past wonders and be touted as a miracle product by someone who is widely regarded as one of the most famous women in the world.

That’s not the only accessible beauty tip that the star has given her adoring fans. According to Elle, Beyoncé also has some advice on how to imitate her famously radiant glow. When asked how she got her “velvety sheen,” the singer was quick to share her secrets: “I layer on bronzers for public appearances.”

What’s more, the product she loves is not some pricey or hard-to-find luxury. “I love L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze One Day gel, which you can just get at Walmart, and Scott Barnes Body Bling is also great,” the star spilled.
