Blue Ivy Carter is one of the most high-profile celebrity kids in the world. The eldest daughter of music’s power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z has been living the high life since she made her grand entrance in 2012. While Blue Ivy has been showered with the best things money can buy these last nine years, her extravagant gift-receiving didn’t begin when she was born, as Bey and Jay reportedly spent millions of dollars on their little girl in the months leading up to her birth.

Blue Ivy received plenty of luxurious gifts before her birth

On January 7, 2012, Beyoncé and her longtime husband, Jay-Z welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy, into the world. This exciting milestone came a few months after the “Halo” singer famously announced her pregnancy during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. She revealed her growing baby bump after performing her hit single “Love On Top.”

In the months following their pregnancy reveal, Bey and Jay got to work preparing for the arrival of their baby girl —and spared no expense in the slightest.

According to Australia’s News Network, the power couple spent over $1 million on baby items, including a Swarovski crystal-studded high chair, a solid gold rocking horse, and a mini Bugatti. Us Weekly added that the pair also purchased a NurseryWorks VETRO Lucite crib worth $3,500.

In addition to all of that, Beyoncé reportedly traded in her Maybach for a $1 million customized mom van complete with a $150,000 audio system, a full bathroom including a shower, as well as wi-fi according to Newser.

Though Beyoncé and Jay-Z were dropping big bucks on their little girl, they weren’t the only ones showering her with lavish gifts before she was even born.

When Beyoncé’s baby shower came around, her longtime friend and fellow Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland gifted the singer and her husband a $5,200 bathtub encrusted with 44,928 Swarovski crystals.

Before Blue Ivy’s birth, Rowland noted that the little girl wouldn’t grow up “spoiled” despite Beyoncé’s extravagant pregnancy.

“I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyoncé at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible,” said the former Destiny’s Child singer. “She won’t be spoiled, but she will be very well looked after.”

However, Jay-Z begged to differ as he later joked that Blue Ivy was going to be a pint-size diva while appearing on Oprah’s Master Class: Special Edition in 2012.

“I imagine I’ll take things I learned from my mom and things I’ve learned from raising my nephews and apply that,” the “Izzo” rapper said, per E! News. “Then at the end of the day, I just know I’ll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.”

Beyoncé wants Blue Ivy to use her privilege for good

Blue Ivy may live a charmed life full of opulent gifts and lavish vacations, but material goods aren’t the only thing she receives from her famous parents nowadays.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, Beyoncé opened up about parenting her three children, sharing that she is teaching her little ones how to use their privilege to help others rather than reaping the benefits themselves.

Have Beyoncé and Jay-Z Turned Blue Ivy Into a Total Diva?

“I let my children know that they are never too young to contribute to changing the world,” Beyoncé said. “I never underestimate their thoughts and feelings, and I check in with them to understand how this is affecting them. Blue saw some of the reactions to the ‘Brown Skin Girl’ video, as well as some of the videos from the philanthropic work I’ve done this year. When I tell her I’m proud of her, she tells me that she’s proud of me and that I’m doing a good job. It’s teeeeeew much sweetness. She melts my heart. I believe the best way to teach them is to be the example.”
