It’s not easy losing weight after having a baby. Even if you are a millionaire celebrity.

Beyoncé opened up to fans about the struggle she went through after carrying and giving birth to her twins, Rumi and Sir Carter. Though she looks fantastic now, there was a time not too long ago when Beyoncé struggled with her body and didn’t love the way she looked.

The 37-year-old R&B superstar even shared an intimate look at her body weight before she embarked on a nutrition and weight loss journey. Now she’s telling the world exactly how much she weighed before she started her road back to fitness.

Beyoncé took fans behind the scenes on her weight loss journey

Queen Bey just posted a video called “22 Days Nutrition” which documented her post-baby body journey. On day one, she addressed her fans saying, “Good morning, it’s 5 a.m., and this is day one of rehearsals for Coachella.” Then she stepped on the scale and let everyone know the result, saying, “Every woman’s nightmare…this is my weight, 175. Long way to go.”

The performer and singer used a combination of diet and exercise to achieve her goal body. Thanks to a strict diet and exercise regimen, she achieved her ideal shape over time and now looks better than ever.

The diet she followed wasn’t easy to stick with

So what was Beyoncé eating all those months leading up to her 2018 Coachella performance? Lots of plants. She adhered to a fully vegan, sugar-free, alcohol-free regimen that wasn’t easy to stick with. But the results were so worth it.

“In order for me to meet my goal, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol,” she said about the diet. “And I’m hungry!”

Beyoncé weighed over 200 pounds while pregnant with the twins

She once called her pregnancy with the twins, which wound up as an emergency C-section, “unexpected.” During her pregnancy, she tipped the scale at about 218 pounds. Losing weight afterward was a struggle.

But after following her regimen for double the recommended amount of time (44 days instead of the 22 days), Beyoncé finally reached the place she wanted to be.

“Okay this is seriously a huge accomplishment because I did not think I’d ever get back in my old costume, and I’m actually in it and I can still move,” she said. “I still have a ways to go, but this makes me feel good because I’ve been sacrificing and working hard. Huge, huge, huge accomplishment. Yay!”

She admitted that she pushed herself too hard

Most of us will never know how hard it is being in the public eye and trying to keep up with the extraordinary demands of Hollywood body standards, especially after giving birth. Looking back on it, Beyoncé now realizes she probably pushed herself too hard getting back in shape and preparing to perform for a crowd so soon after delivering.

“Just trying to figure out how to balance being a mother of a 6-year-old and of twins that need me — and giving myself creatively and physically, it was a lot to juggle,” she revealed to People. “It’s not like before when I could rehearse for 15 hours straight. I have children. I have a husband. I have to take care of my body. I definitely pushed myself further than I knew I could. And I learned a very valuable lesson. I will never, never push myself that far again.”
