Beyoncé Once Opened up About Her ‘Traumatic’ Experience Cooking French Fries: ‘It Was Disastrous’

Beyoncé is very talented in many areas, but cooking isn't one of them. In a previous interview, the singer revealed that she almost set her house on fire trying to cook french fries, which goes to show that she's not good at everything.

Beyoncé is exceptionally talented when it comes to entertaining others. She sings, dances, and acts so well that it seems like there’s nothing she can’t do. While she is one of the most iconic performers in the music industry today, not everything Beyoncé does comes easy to her.

One thing that has been challenging for her to grasp is how to cook. Over the years, the singer has tried her best to make delicious meals for herself and her family. However, she hasn’t been the most successful and has had some pretty traumatic experiences due to her lack of cooking skills.

Beyoncé isn’t the best cook

Seeing as Beyoncé hasn’t had much downtime over the years due to her career as a world-famous entertainer, she hasn’t had the chance to learn her way around the kitchen thoroughly.

Because of this, the Queen Bey doesn’t whip up home-cooked meals that often and hasn’t really honed in on her cooking skills.

During a 2006 interview with Cosmopolitan, the singer admitted that she’s not the best cook and even said that making homecooked meals isn’t something that comes easy to her.

“I don’t cook much,” the Dreamgirls actor said. “But I’m good at spaghetti and sandwiches. I know they’re easy, but they’re my specialty.”

Even Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles Lawson, has said she’s not the best chef in the world.

“Beyoncé can’t cook,” Knowles Lawson told Us Weekly in 2019. However, the House of Deréon designer did admit that daughter Solange Knowles knows her way around the kitchen, adding, “There’s no contest!”

Beyoncé almost burnt her house down cooking french fries

Though some of the food dishes she’s made over the years have turned out OK, there have been moments where Beyoncé’s meals have almost gone up in literal flames.

In 2002, the “Halo” singer revealed that she almost burned down her house trying to cook french fries. Though the experience started out fine, things took a turn when Bey began adding the frozen fries to a pan of hot grease.

“I tried to cook some fries. They were frozen and I put them in the grease, and the little ice was on them. So it started [making a popping noise],” she explained during an interview. “I thought I was going to burn the house down. It was a very, very traumatic experience.”

She added, “Every time I try to cook, it’s disastrous.”

Beyoncé is skilled in other areas

Though she’s not the best at cooking, Beyoncé is highly skilled in many other areas. She can sing, dance, act, and put on full productions without breaking a sweat.

Beyoncé Can’t Cook, but She’s a Master at Making One Specific Dish

While cooking is not one of her strong suits, whipping up meals isn’t a skill the Queen Bey necessarily needs, given her superstar status.

According to All Hip Hop, Bey reportedly dishes out $7,500 per month for a personal chef, who cooks most of her meals. She is even reported to have a dietician who gets paid a maximum of $4,000 a month (the fee varies depending upon diet changes).

Beyoncé also dines out at the most exclusive restaurants in the world, so there’s really no reason for her to learn her way around a kitchen.
