Beyoncé’s Dad, Mathew Knowles, Has Some Harsh Words for Fans Comparing Her to Chloe Bailey

Ever since singer Chloe Bailey rose to fame as one-half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle, many people have compared her incredible vocal talents to that of the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé.

However, Beyoncé’s father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, doesn’t think the young prodigy possesses the same talent as his superstar daughter and recently called out fans for making this “insulting” comparison.

According to Knowles, no one could ever live up to Beyoncé’s talent — not even her protégés Chloe x Halle.

During a jaw-dropping interview with radio personality Leah A. Henry on the podcast Leah’s Lemonade earlier this week, the businessman was asked about the ongoing comparisons between his famous daughter and Chloe Bailey fans have been making.

Though many think Chloe has the same superstar qualities that Beyoncé possessed at her age, Knowles slammed this comparison, claiming it’s “insulting” to consider the singers the same talent-wise.

“You’ve got to be kidding me, right? You’re asking me that question?” Knowles said during the interview after the host told him people “constantly” compare the two and call Chloe a “younger” version of the Grammy-winner. “Are you actually serious that you are comparing that young lady to Beyoncé?” 

Henry then clarified that the question was aimed at the “Ungodly Hour” singer playing Beyoncé in a potential biopic.

“Okay, you’re talking about if somebody was doing a movie, not talent-wise,” Knowles asked. “Talent-wise?”

He continued, “I’m asking you a yes or no question. Are you telling me someone’s an idiot enough to compare her to Beyoncé, talent-wise? Are there people saying her talent is equal to Beyoncé? They’re an idiot. Period.”

After sharing his peace about the Beyoncé and Chloe comparisons, many people took to the comments to slam Knowles for his remarks about the 22-year-old singer.

Once he read some of the live reactions from YouTube viewers, the former talent manager had had enough.

“What’s turned into a wonderful interview, is now ending up on some bullsh*t,” Knowles said.

“Well, there you have it,” the host, seemingly speechless, said.

Beyoncé heavily inspires Chloe Bailey and her sister Halle

Though neither Bailey nor Beyoncé has addressed Knowles’ comments publicly, the young singer has previously opened up about constantly being inspired by the Queen Bey.

While speaking with Daily Pop’s Carissa Culiner and Justin Sylvester in January 2021, the “Forgive Me” singer revealed that she’s drawn to how Beyoncé “carries herself and the way she performs and lets everything go.”

A year prior, Chloe and her sister Halle shared what it’s like being the protégés of a superstar like Beyoncé, who signed them to her Parkwood Entertainment label in 2015.

“She’s a boss and she takes care of her own,” she told PopSugar. “She’s independent and knows what she wants, and she’s not afraid to articulate that. That’s what we truly admire about Beyoncé . . . she’s allowed us to grow in our own right, and as much as she is vocal, she lets us fly on our own.”

Chloe and Halle Bailey have definitely taken a page out of Beyoncé’s book. Even though Knowles would never admit it, these two sisters clearly possess the same superstar qualities as the Grammy winner.
