Beyoncé is the record-breaking artist and dancer behind ‘Single Ladies’

She’s the most awarded artist in Grammy history. She’s performed at the Super Bowl and earned millions of streams for songs created with Jay-Z (The Carters) and Destiny’s Child. Additionally, Beyoncé is known for solo songs like “Formation,” “Crazy In Love,” and “Love On Top.”

Beyoncé has a few iconic dance moves that she’s perfected over the years, in addition to her successful music and historic visual albums. For her Coachella performance, she showcased the  “Diva/Everybody Mad” dance.

For former First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, Beyoncé created a new dance for “Get Me Bodied,” titled “Move Your Body.” Perhaps her best-known dance moves, however, were created in conjunction with the “Single Ladies” choreography.

As one of the songs off of Beyoncé’s 2008 album, the artist performed this song as her alter ego, Sasha Fierce. Queen Bey also created the iconic black and white music video and the “Single Ladies hand,” which became one of her best-known dance moves.

This song and its music video marked a new chapter for Beyoncé. Justin Timberlake appeared in a Saturday Night Live sketch based on this song. The artist even earned the MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year for the production.

Over 10 years since its release, the “Single Ladies” music video has over 800 million views. The singer even performed the hit during her Coachella set. One of the people behind the dance is Ashley Everett, Beyoncé’s dance captain.

“That’s when people started recognizing me,” Everett said of “Single Ladies” during an interview with Refinery29. “Before that, only the hardcore fans knew me from her first tour.

“But after ‘Single Ladies,’ people would point at me on the street or come up to me and say that they were Ashley Everett fans,” she continued. “When we filmed that video, I was just doing my job and so excited to be a part of it. I had no idea it would blow up like it did. But I was so grateful.”
