Why Isn’t ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 on Tonight, Dec. 23? Season 2 Episode 9 Teases Revenge
The last Big Sky episode on December 16 sucked fans back into the Ronald Pergman (Brian Geraghty) storyline, but sadly the show is not on tonight, Dec. 23. The Ed Gein-like serial killer murdered Cassie Dewell’s (Kylie Bunbury) father, Joseph Dewell (Jeffrey Joseph). Now, the private investigator is out for revenge on who killed her dad (although she doesn’t know yet that it was Ronald). Unfortunately, the show takes a long winter break before Big Sky Season 2 Episode 9 returns.
Why isn’t ‘Big Sky’ on tonight, Dec. 22, 2021?
According to ABC’s schedule, Big Sky Season 2 will lose its time slot tonight, Dec. 22. The network seems to be keeping Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and Station 19 Season 5 on the same schedule, so all three will lose their time slots tonight. Instead, the network will air Christmas-themed programming all evening. The evening starts with Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town at 8:00 p.m. in place of Station 19.
At 9:00, instead of Grey’s Anatomy, ABC airs a repeat of A Very Boy Band Holiday. The special includes musical performances from all your favorite 90s boy bands, including NSYNC, Boyz II Men, New Edition, New Kids on the Block, O-Town, and 98 Degrees. Then in place of Big Sky, ABC wraps up the holiday evening with a CMA Country Christmas. The annual special features holiday songs performed by country artists.
When does ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 Episode 9 return?
Viewers must wait until Feb. 24, 2022, to see Big Sky return to its Thursday evening time slot. However, good news and bad news come with that return. There should not be many breaks when Big Sky Season 2 Episode 9 returns (sadly not tonight). The series only aired eight episodes and has about eight more to end the season with the same number of episodes as Big Sky Season 1.
What to expect when ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 Episode 9 returns
Since Big Sky Season 2 does not return until 2022, no ABC press release or synopsis is available tonight. However, the Big Sky Season 2 Episode 9 promo provides some context about what to expect when the show returns. The clip opens with the funeral of Cassie’s dad. She stands next to Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) with Kai, in shock that her father is gone.
“Whatever you need to do, I got your back,” Jenny told Cassie in the promo.
Cassie responded that whoever killed her father will pay for what they did. The pair are ready to enact revenge. However, they don’t know who to go after. Instead, ABC flashes all of her potential suspects on the screen — Ren (Janina Gavankar), Wolfgang Legarski (John Carroll Lynch), and Ronald. Although Cassie stopped following Ronald’s case, she might reopen it after this tragic death.
Don’t look for Big Sky Season 2 Episode 9 to return tonight, but rather on ABC at 10 p.m. EST on Feb. 24, 2022.
