The last Big Sky episode on November 18 left fans worried for three newcomers, but sadly the show is not on tonight, Dec. 2, 2021. Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) watched ring-leader Dietrich (David Meunier) take Travis Stone (Logan Marshall-Green) to see Smiley (Michael Tomsu) — who is already dead. Meanwhile, Harper (Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson) found Creary (Ryan De Quintal) bleeding out in his van. Lastly, Deputy Marshall Mark Lindor (Omar Metwally) took another look around Wolfgang Legarski’s (John Carroll Lynch) ranch. The upcoming Big Sky Season 2 Episode 7 promo teases all three newcomers in danger.

Why isn’t ‘Big Sky’ on tonight, Dec. 2, 2021?

According to ABC’s schedule, Big Sky Season 2 will lose its time slot tonight, Dec. 2. The network seems to be keeping Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and Station 19 Season 5 on the same schedule, so all three will lose their time slots tonight. Instead, the network will air Christmas-themed programming all evening. Olaf’s Frozen Adventure steals the first half-hour time slot with a cute animated featurette about the Christmas season at 8:00 p.m. EST. Then Tom Hanks and Woody Allen take over the second slot with the critically acclaimed featurette, Toy Story That Time Forgot

At 9:00 and 10:00, instead of Grey’s Anatomy and Big Sky, ABC wraps up The Great Christmas Flight Season 9. The season began on Nov. 28 and consisted of six episodes of a reality TV competition where groups or families compete over who has the best holiday light display.

When does ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 Episode 7 return?

Viewers must wait until Dec. 9 to see Big Sky return to its Thursday evening time slot. However, good news and bad news come with that return. When Big Sky Season 2 Episode 7 returns (sadly not tonight), there are two episodes in a row before the winter break.

What to expect when ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 Episode 7 returns

According to the ABC press release, Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Jenny fear Travis might be dead when Big Sky Season 2 Episode 7, “Little Boxes,” returns on Dec. 9, 2021.

“Cassie and Jenny discover a gruesome message meant for Dietrich in their search to find Travis, leading them to fear the worst,” the press release reads. “Elsewhere, Tonya works to gain Donno’s trust and Ren’s ear, and the kids hope to stay out of sight as they tend to Creary’s injuries. Meanwhile, Cassie has an emotional breakthrough, and Ronald and Scarlet work to break out.”

The Big Sky Season 2 Episode 7 promo provides a little more context about what to expect. The message that Cassie and Jenny find is a box with something bloody inside and the statement, “To the liar.” Since viewers know that Ren and Donno believe that Dietrich has the money and drugs, it’s evident that the note is from them to Dietrich. Smiley died in the Nov. 18 episode, so it’s likely one of his body parts, not Travis.

Don’t look for Big Sky Season 2 Episode 7 to return tonight, but rather on ABC at 10 p.m. EST on Dec. 9, 2021.
