It has been over two years since Billie Eilish’s “No Time to Die” was released. It was supposed to drop at the same time as the James Bond film of the same name, but due to the pandemic, it was delayed. Now that the movie has finally come out, the song is nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars. Eilish and her brother, Finneas, who co-wrote the song, will be performing the song at the Oscars ceremony.

No Time to Die had a difficult journey to the theaters. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film is the fifth and final James Bond movie with Daniel Craig in the lead role. Initially, No Time to Die was scheduled for April 2020. However, once the pandemic began, the film shifted to Nov. 2020, then to April 2021, before finally landing on the date of Oct. 8. 2021.

Since promotion for No Time to Die already began, Eilish and Finneas’ song of the same name was released in Feb. 2020. Fans of both Eilish and James Bond movies approved of the song, but the only person whose opinion mattered to Eilish was Craig. In an interview on Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, Eilish said that Craig had to be the one to “sign off on it” since this is his last film.

“It was his last film, it’s something that has taken over his life for as long as he’s done it and been incredibly important,” Eilish explained. “Of course, this movie is going to be the most important because it’s the last one. The song needs to be good. I didn’t know if it was going to be good enough for him. But then it went into the movie and when we met Daniel Craig he was just the most charming, kind, amazing person and he was so complimentary and it meant so much to me.”

Eilish and Finneas will perform ‘No Time to Die’ at the 2022 Oscars

Since the song is nominated for Best Original Song, Eilish and Finneas will be performing at the Oscars ceremony, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The two have performed the song before, but this is a momentous occasion. The Grammy-winning siblings do have a solid chance at winning the award, especially with the recent success of James Bond songs.

Adele won the Oscar for “Skyfall,” which she performed for the movie of the same name and Sam Smith won for “Writing’s on the Wall” for 2015’s Spectre. The competition for “No Time to Die” includes “Dos Oruguitas” from the Encanto soundtrack and Beyonce’s “Be Alive” from King Richard
