BLACKPINK’s in your area. There are four members in this award-winning K-pop group, each playing a role in creating songs like “How You Like That” and “Kill This Love.”

Rosé and Lisa are two members of BLACKPINK

They were the first K-pop group to perform at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. BLACKPINK features four renowned performers — Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie.

The two youngest members of this group, Lisa and Rosé, are also very close friends, as seen during several video clips. (Rosé even sent Lisa flowers to congratulate her on her solo debut with Lalisa.)

These K-pop artists also appeared in their Netflix original documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky. The streaming platform also posted deleted scenes to YouTube, one of which showed Lisa and Rosé relaxing outside, talking about their friendship.

“I was the youngest there, and you came, and I was like, ‘excuse me, I was the youngest here,’” Lisa joked. “But we became like best friends.”

“But it took a while, but as soon as it was like,” Rosé said with Lisa finishing her thought, saying, “click.”

“And we used to fight a lot. Every single day I had to be like, ‘Rosie, can you just stop,’” Lisa added. She told the story of the time she tried saying “annoying” in Korean and instead said “black bean noodles.”

In the same video clip, Lisa explained that she and Rosé had difficulty adjusting to the Korean culture when they first moved as trainees. Lisa added that there is somewhat of a “formal language” in Thailand, but the differences in ages feel more significant in South Korea.

However, this transition to life as a trainee is one of the reasons why they became such close friends. Another rapper in BLACKPINK, Jennie, spent time abroad before moving to Korea as a trainee.

Jennie and Jisoo of BLACKPINK also spend time together

The BLACKPINK members are close friends, with other documentary clips showing the idols packing suitcases together and even Jennie and Jisoo cooking together. In fact, the idols credit their relationship and time spent together as trainees as the reason why there’s no group leader.

“We just got along so well,” Jennie said. “Because usually there’s like ‘oh, I wanna sing more’ or ‘oh, I want to be in the middle.’ There’s always those little fights going on in the groups. But when it was the four of us, it was clear what we were doing.”

Fans can catch up with Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo on social media. Music by BLACKPINK, including their recently released single with Selena Gomez, “Ice Cream,” is available on most major streaming platforms.
