Levine decided to quit The Voice after season 16. But his rivalry with Shelton wasn’t over.

Shelton and Stefani recently released the duet, “Happy Anywhere” together. Maroon 5 also released “Nobody’s Love” around the same time. The songs were on the same chart and so the singers tweeted about it.

“My god Adam…. You are still a pain in my a**!!!!! Go away idiot!!!!” Shelton tweeted. Levine then posted about it on his Instagram Story. “Eat sh*t cowboy! I’m comin’ for ya!” he wrote.

Stefani had something to say about this on Instagram. “@adamlevine leave my boyfriend @blakeshelton alone,” she wrote in her story.

But it looks like Levine didn’t plan on stopping. “I will never leave him alone. He was my boyfriend first,” he wrote.

Shelton wants Levine to perform at the wedding

It sounds like Levine will be there for the big day, and he might be performing. Shelton talked about getting Levine to work his wedding on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

“I’ve kind of decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now and I’ve got a lot of favors out there,” the country singer said. “He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”

He added, “I’ve already seen a music video where they crash people’s weddings and he owes me a lot for just putting up with him over the years. So I think we can get Adam to come be our wedding band.”

Many fans were shocked to find out Levine would no longer coach on the competition show. Shelton claimed he was also surprised, but later revealed he knew Levine was considering leaving.

I think we all knew, on the inside of the show, that he was ready to make a move,” the coach told Entertainment Tonight. “For a guy like Adam, who is just — he’s the most ADD person I think I’ve met — for him to have even done it as long as he did without wanting to move on to the next thing, is amazing.”

He continued, “But I know he’s happy with his decision. Doesn’t mean I am, or any of us [are happy], but at least they were able to soften the blow a little bit and bring Gwen [Stefani] back.”

Stefani has taken turns coaching on The Voice. She’s currently a coach, but will be replaced again by Nick Jonas for season 20.
