There is a big cast on Blue Bloods given it follows a family. The fans get to see them eat family dinner every episode, but some cast members don’t get to work together as much. Donnie Wahlberg talked about not getting one co-star. Find out why he said it’s hard and more.

Danny and Jamie previously were at odds on ‘Blue Bloods’

Danny is a detective and Jamie is a sergeant. So they’re not usually working together. However, they did cross paths in season 9 in the episode, “My Brothers Keeper.”

Jamie and Danny were involved in a hostage negotiation and Jamie had seniority. Danny still wouldn’t listen to him when he disagreed.

Of course, the brothers eventually made up. But they haven’t really worked together since then. Fans can usually catch them at the family dinner table and that’s it.

Donnie Wahlberg wants to work with Will Estes more

The Reagan brothers have worked together in the past on Blue Bloods. But it’s still so rare that Wahlberg said he wishes it happened more.

“If I had to choose one, I’d probably say Will Estes,” he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet when asked which cast member he wished he’d work with more. “I worked with a lot of the cast frequently, so it’s not like I don’t get to see them as much, but I think Will and me because of the nature of our characters’ jobs. We’re not going to cross paths that often. But I just think the world of Will.”

Wahlberg talked about all the great things about Estes. “He’s such a gracious and humble human being,” he said. “Whenever we work together, we have a lot of fun and it really is like getting a sneak peek into each other’s worlds. For us as human beings and for us as characters as well on the show.”

The actors happen to be very different in real life. “We’re different,” Wahlberg said. “He’s a vegetarian and I’m not. I sell hamburgers for a living [laughs.] But he introduces new foods to me and we talk about different things.”

The actor talked about how time flies by when working on Blue Bloods. “We have a great cast with so many great people, it’s hard to work with them all,” he told PopCulture.com. “I’ve barely done any scenes with Will Estes in the last season or two, so it’s hard.”

He continued, “You look around and three years have passed and you’ve only done one scene with somebody and it’s kind of like, how did that happen? But hopefully we’ll keep going.”

Wahlberg talked about what it’s like to still work on the show after all these years. “I just know that we’re having more fun than we’ve ever had on the show,” he said. “It’s still the number one show on Friday night for 10 years and it’s been a great run and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon.”
