Eddie (Vanessa Ray) is still a cop dealing with crime on the streets on Blue Bloods. This leads to her having some interesting cases, but she technically doesn’t have much power given her title.

The newest episode really showed that and fans are ready for her to move on from her job. Find out what they’re saying and more.

Jamie Reagan was recently promoted on ‘Blue Bloods’

Eddie and Jamie (Will Estes) were partners as police officers for years. That changed in season 9 because he was promoted to sergeant.

“Now, he’s a veteran who just made sergeant,” Estes told Newsweek. “I’m stepping into my training sergeant’s shoes, and I’m now in charge of other police officers. I’m one step up the ladder rung and in charge of other police officers and playing a boss.”

This meant Jamie’s relationship with Eddie had to change. “Vanessa and I are discovering how to play people who are in a relationship and not partners because we want to be in a relationship,” he said.

The former partners also got married at the end of the season. Season 10 ended with Jamie and Eddie working opposite schedules. However, they still turn to each other for advice or have to deal with him being her boss.

Eddie struggled with being believed

The episode, “Where the Truth Lies” had Eddie and Erin (Bridget Moynahan) working together. There was a case where a woman was found dead. Her husband and daughter were home and they claimed they saw a man wearing a hoodie jump out the window.

However, Eddie had a gut feeling that they were lying. She was interrupted by a detective when she was talking about her theory and was told to sit with the family instead.

“Those two are lying through their teeth,” she told Anthony (Steven Ralphie Schirripa) and Erin later. Erin did interview the father and daughter again and thought Eddie was wrong. That’s when things got heated when Erin said she needed more than just a gut instinct.

“Sure. Right. ‘Cause I’m not a detective,” Eddie said back. “So I should just walk away.” One person who did have her back was Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) who said at the dinner table, “I’ve made a career out of following my gut despite people telling me to back off. So don’t back off. Go with your gut. It’s all we got.”

She followed his advice and it turns out she was right. It left some fans thinking about Eddie’s future.

Fans want Eddie to get promoted

Some fans believe Eddie should also be up for a promotion. They tweeted their thoughts after the episode.

“I adore Anthony and Eddy [sic] together. She needs to be promoted to be his sidekick. He’s great alone, but they have great chemistry,” one fan tweeted. Another fan tweeted, “Promote Eddie to detective so she makes more $$ than Jamie.” Someone else responded with, “No. She would be more equal in pay to Jamie. But she does need to make detective. She has so much on her record to have her appointed detective.”

Eddie has been working as a police officer for some time. She’s often working hard to solve her cases, and since Jamie moved on it would make sense for her to be promoted too.

There is the downside that Eddie might work with Jamie even less. Time will tell if anything will actually change for the character.
