‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Miss Seeing Eddie and Jamie Fight Crime Together

One of the things people love about Blue Bloods is that police work runs in the family. Most of the family is in the business — all except Erin, played by Bridget Moynahan, who says she works as a lawyer in the DA’s office instead because she’s the smart one. Everyone else works for the police department, including the newlyweds Eddie and Jamie.

Of course, that’s not too surprising, considering that the two met on the job. But since the happy couple tied the knot things have changed at work, and fans are missing the way it used to be.

A great team from the beginning

It was season four when Jamie and Eddie were paired up as partners at work. From the beginning they worked well together, becoming the kind of partners who seem to be able to read each other’s minds.

To complicate matters, that wasn’t the only kind of chemistry they shared. Their easy friendship quickly morphed into an obvious attraction that just kept building between them. Before too long they shared a brief kiss, but they quickly moved away from it. Why? They love their jobs and people who are in a relationship aren’t allowed to be partners. The NYPD believes that emotions could cloud their judgment, which could be deadly in such a high-stakes job.

They tried to deny their feelings

As the years went by, it became clear that their attraction toward each other was not going to go away. They even discussed it in season 7, when they both agreed that they were too devoted to their work to throw their partnership away so they could date. And then they shared a passionate kiss, which sort of undermined what they had just said.

Ultimately there was no denying their feelings, and when that dam broke it was dramatic. When they finally decided they wanted to be together Jamie showed up with Eddie at the family dinner and announced that they were getting married. Family members pointed out that they wouldn’t be partners anymore, but the two of them couldn’t stop smiling, so it seemed that they thought it was worth it. Season 9 ended with the former work partners becoming life partners in a beautiful wedding.

After the wedding, they did end up in different jobs. Jamie got promoted to sergeant and Eddie got a new partner. And while they’re still out there, making the streets safer, fans miss watching them work their magic together.

During the 18th episode of season 10, Eddie and Jamie got the chance to work as a team again. They both showed up on the scene of a smash-and-grab burglary in an electronics store, and they ended up working the case together. When the mastermind behind the crime was revealed and arrested, there was a small moment that took viewers back to the old days. After putting the suspect in the back of the squad car, the two walked past each other and quietly exchanged a low palm slap to congratulate each other.

Fans loved it. When the clip was posted on Twitter, the comments exploded with people celebrating at seeing them work together again. “Teamwork makes the dream work. I miss Jamko on the streets together,” one viewer said.

“Yesssss…. how hard is it for @BlueBloods_CBS to just do this every episode?!?!?! lol,” another agreed. Lots of people were on the same page, commenting about how much they enjoyed seeing them working together again. “I have missed this duo fighting crime! Nice to see” one said, and another chimed in, “Loved seeing them back in action together!”

Eddie and Jamie had to decide if they wanted to pursue their professional relationship or their romantic relationship more. For the newlyweds, it seems like the choice was clear – they might even be trying to have a baby soon. But there’s no denying that they were good at their jobs together, and their fans don’t seem to be ready to let their partnership as cops go.
