‘Blue Bloods’: Could Jamie and Eddie’s Relationship Spell Trouble?
Fans of the hit CBS drama Blue Bloods were happy Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) finally got married. After many episodes of them flirting, dating, getting engaged, and finally tying the knot, it was satisfying for viewers to see a resolution to this drawn out love affair. However, could Jamie and Eddie’s marriage spell trouble down the road? Here’s what Ray and Estes had to say about Jamie and Eddie’s future.
Vanessa Ray and Will Estes said kissing can be awkward
Fans love to see Jamie and Eddie get romantic, but it’s not always easy for Ray and Estes. The actors have become good friends. This is why the co-stars told CBS Watch it can be awkward when they have kissing scenes. They said their first kiss was OK because they didn’t know each other well, but the second kiss was a little weird because they had become friends by that time. “The first kiss was really weird. Or was it the second kiss?” asked Estes. Ray chimed in, saying it was the second kiss that was tough for them. “The second one was way weirder than the first kiss,” responded Ray. Estes went on to explain why kissing can be awkward for the pair. “Because we’d become friends at that point. We’d spent a lot of hours together. We’re married without the romance,” said Estes.
Vanessa Ray and Will Estes are very invested in their characters
Ray told Entertainment Weekly she and Estes have “strong opinions” on how the relationship between Jamie and Eddie should go:
For sure, you’re always excited to be able to explore a new side of your character. It’s been interesting to see what it’s brought out in scene work and things that we’ve been working on because we all have such strong opinions about how this love story should go and how this relationship should go. It definitely has been fun to play it. It colors a lot of things now more openly than it did before.
Will Jamie and Eddie’s marriage become a problem?
Ray told CBS Watch she wasn’t sold on the idea of Jamie and Eddie becoming romantically involved. She was concerned the characters would have no way to grow after they got serious. “There was pushback because we thought, ‘If you put us together, then where do we go from there?’” asked Ray.
Estes added he was concerned their story would have to come to an end once the characters made things official. He had major reservations. “It was the Moonlighting thing. Once they got together, the story was over. The anticipation is so much better than the monster—that’s what Hitchcock taught us. So, we were nervous about what it was going to mean once we were together,” said Estes.
Only time will tell what will become of Jamie and Eddie. Blue Bloods returns to CBS September 27.
