Jamie and Eddie used to work together as partners. They eventually fell in love and got married at the end of season 9.

Their lives have changed to getting a new place together, Eddie eats with the Reagans every week, and Jamie gets a promotion. Luckily, they still work at the same precinct, but Jamie is calling the shots now.

Fans have been wondering when the newlyweds will have their first baby. But so far, they have been very focused on their work and making their marriage last.

The married couple has been navigating marriage and working together for several seasons. Estes answered if they’re ready for a kid.

“Yeah, I think Jamie could do it,” he told Looper. “I think Jamie is ready for it. I definitely think Eddie could do it.”

“But if they did decide to start a family, that would make their life a little complicated,” he continued. “The trick would be, like a lot of people find these days if everybody’s working, who’s watching the kids? You can obviously hire people and get help. And a lot of people do, but depending on your hours, that can be an intense situation. I know a lot of people find it’s difficult to have a dog holding down a full-time job. So, you know, a kid is the next level, but are the characters ready? Could the characters do it? Absolutely, yeah. I haven’t thought too much more about it, but I think so.”

The couple is still very focused on their careers. Eddie revealed she might want a promotion.

Eddie might become a sergeant

Season 12 shows Eddie still working under Jamie. But that might change. In “Times Like These” Eddie went out at night a lot. This was bugging Jamie, who wanted to spend time with her.

He then caught her in a lie about where she was going, so he decided to follow her. Eddie admitted she’s been taking classes and studying for the sergeant exam. She didn’t want to tell Jamie because she wasn’t sure how he would react. But he was supportive.

Eddie’s still a police officer. However, even that job has changed. Her partner, Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten), never recovered mentally from shooting someone on the job. This season she decided to take a leave from her job because of it. It’s unclear if she’ll return. So this means Eddie will be getting a new partner.
