‘Blue Bloods’: Why Jamie and Eddie Might Not Have Kids After All
Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray) have been planning their wedding, but it turns out they didn’t talk about if they wanted to have kids yet. There is a chance they won’t have kids after all. Here is the reason why and how fans feel about their decision.
Eddie doesn’t want kids because of her job
In the episode, “Strange Bedfellows” Jamie proposed adopting a baby girl that Eddie helped save. This led to them having their first conversation about how they feel about having kids.
“Truth be told I’m not sure about having kids period,” Eddie told Jamie. When he asked if it was because of her parents she said the Reagan family history is what she’s afraid of happening to her own. “Two casualties in one generation on account of the job,” she said.
That could be in reference to Joe Reagan who was killed when he was investigating a corrupt police group. Then there is Linda (Amy Carlson) who was murdered because Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) was onto the cartel.
Although Eddie is leaning toward not having kids she did leave room for that to change. “I never say never but I’m not much of a gambler,” she added.
Jamie is more focused on the positive rather than thinking of the possibility of them leaving their kids behind. “I can see down that rabbit hole too but I’m not going in,” he said.
They agreed to not make any big changes unless the other person is completely on board
The engaged couple revisited their conversation later. Eddie was visiting a dog so Jamie assumed she wanted one to warm up to the idea of having a kid.
She said no then, “Never really made sense to me anyway. With a dog you can try out a few and you choose, and with a baby, they just hand you the one that’s yours, and there’s no refunds, no returns.” She added, “You do it there’s no going back.”
The two then made a deal to not make any big decisions unless they’re both completely into it. “I like that. I think that’s the way we should think about stuff,” said Eddie. “Always making sure the other one is 100% on board. If we do that I think there’s no limit to the life that we can build.”
Fans are hoping they’ll have kids
Some fans actually were rooting for the couple to adopt the baby. That didn’t happen, but others also said they hope to one day see them have a kid.
The couple has to walk down the aisle first. Maybe we will see Eddie warm up more to the idea of having a kid in Season 10. For now, the two will be holding off on that and other big decisions like getting a dog.
