Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s new drama series BMF follows Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi). The brothers began building their drug empire on the streets of Detroit. Though they began when they were just teens they became two of the biggest drug traffickers in the country.

Starz’s crime series chronicles the Flenorys rise and eventual fall. But, can fans of the show watch the series on Netflix.?

Is ‘BMF’ based on a true story?

As incredible as the events on the TV series seem, BMF is based on the Flenory brothers’ real life. Big Meech’s son Lil Meech even portrays his father in the series. As the show suggests, Big Meech and Southwest T began building their business by selling $50 bags of cocaine.

They would go on to expand their business into other states including Atlanta. They even had a major role in entertainment in the ’90s and early 2000s.

“I took some liberties, but everything there is based on a story,” BMF creator Randy Huggins told Urban Hollywood 411. “Obviously, you can’t have people’s names in there. Obviously, some of the places may have changed.”

However, Huggins was adamant about making sure the TV show was as accurate as possible. “I don’t think there’s a character in there, that I hadn’t heard of,” he said. “I may have to take a creative liberty to make an art pop a little bit more. I may have to take a creative license to make a scene funnier than it may have been, but that’s just part of telling a story. This is not a documentary.”

Is the drama series on Netflix?

The first season of the 50 Cent-produced crime drama is coming to a close soon, but it’s already been renewed for a second season by Starz. Fans who want to catch up on the series before season 2 premieres won’t be able to look to Netflix for answers. The mega-popular streaming platform isn’t currently streaming BMF, nor do they have any plans to do so.

For fans who want to keep up with the Flenory brothers’ story, they are going to have to turn to the Starz app. Still, there are a ton of crime dramas to choose from on Netflix including Ozark, Clickbait, and Mindhunters.

What will season 2 of ‘BMF’ be about?

Though the second season of BMF has already been given the greenlight, the series has not begun shooting new episodes just yet. However, based on what we know about Big Meech and Southwest T’s life, fans have some indication of what we might see next.

It looks like we could be seeing the Flenory’s shift from Detroit to Atlanta next. “What’s really interesting about Demetrius and Terry is they really didn’t blow up in Detroit,” Huggins said told The Detroit Free Press. Moreover, by the time Big Meech and Southwest T were arrested in 2004 for money laundering and fraud they were no longer speaking.
