The second season of Starz‘s  BMF has begun filming. Fans of the series know that it follows the real-life Flenory brothers and their rise from the streets of Detroit to becoming two of the biggest drug dealers in the country. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi) began their careers as small-time drug dealers in Detroit in the ’80s when they were just teens. From there they would become two of the biggest drug traffickers in the country.

The first season was explosive and season 2 is set to be even more intense. In fact, La La Anthony will have a much larger role this season.

‘BMF’ Season 2 just began filming in Atlanta

Filming for the second season of BMF is finally underway in Atlanta. Though the series is set in Detroit it is mostly filming down south because of Georiga’s filming incentives. Recently, executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson shared a photo of showrunner/creator Randy Huggins with the cast and crew. He captioned the photo, “Back to work people” and he included a fire emoji.

Interestingly enough, the Flenorys business eventually did expand from Detroit and into both Los Angeles and Atlanta. “What’s really interesting about Demetrius and Terry is they really didn’t blow up in Detroit,” Huggins told The Detroit Free Press.

La La Anthony has been upped to series regular for season 2

Now that the crew is getting back to work, the cast is also expanding. La La Anthony who was seen briefly in the series pilot as Markisha Taylor, the wife of a major Detroit drug dealer has been upped to series regular for season 2. According to Deadline, “Markisha is the smart, sophisticated and street-savvy wife of a powerful Detroit dealer. Despite the risk, Terry begins to pursue her relentlessly and they develop a friendship.”

Actor Kelly Hu has also been cast as Detective Veronica Jin. She is described as, “the only Asian American, female detective in the murder capital of the world in the ‘80s.” Moreover, there is Snowfall’s Christine Horn who will portray Mabel Jones, a trusted friend and neighbor to the Flenory family. “Despite her vivacious facade, the Flenory’s will discover there’s more to Mabel than what meets the eye.”

Demetrius Flenory Jr. says Season 2 will ‘blow the audience away’

In addition to the chaos that will undoubtedly unfold due to Terry’s relationship with Markisha, we’re hoping that the brothers reunite with the business dealing. As fans know, at the end of the first season, Terry walked away from BMF to begin a legit business with his father Charles (Russell Hornsby). Now, it seems like Meech is going to be running the organization on his own for a while. Since he’s much more hot-headed than Terry, this could be disastrous.

Lil Meech says that fans should begin bracing themselves now for what’s to come. “A lot of crazy things happen,” he told PopSugar. “We’re really just going to blow the audience away.” He went on to explain that this season would center on Meech and his desire to expand the business.

“Well, I can’t spoil it, but I can tell you, [it’s about] elevation,” he explained. “Big Meech and his mind, even at 15, 16 [years old], he thought like a grown man . . . He always wanted to take over the world. And to a regular person it [might] sound crazy, but he did everything he said he was going to do.”
