Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s marriage may have fallen apart in 2005, but the two have remained close friends over the years. Now that they are both single again, fans have been holding out hope that they rekindle things. A romance may or may not happen at some point down the road, but there is no denying that Pitt and Aniston have never stopped gushing about each other in public.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston reconnect

Following their divorce in 2005, Pitt sparked up a romance with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie. The two were together for a little over a decade before calling it quits in 2016.

Aniston, meanwhile, tied the knot with Justin Theroux in 2015. Their marriage only lasted a few years and the couple separated in 2017.

Following his divorce from Jolie, Brad Pitt’s friendship with Aniston really took off and the two have remained close ever since. Not only did Pitt make it to Aniston’s 50th birthday party in 2019, but he also attended one of the actress’s Christmas parties last December.

After the Christmas bash, an inside source revealed that Pitt and Aniston’s friendship is stronger than ever. This, of course, has sparked a number of romance rumors, but it looks like they are just friends for now.

“They’re obviously on friendly terms, and the more time that passes, the closer they seem to be getting,” the insider dished. “It’s part of his new sobriety, and Jen has obviously forgiven him. This show of solidarity, at a small gathering like this, is very special. It’s a very grown-up gesture on Jen’s part.”

Aniston shares a sweet moment with Pitt at the SAG Awards

Aniston and Pitt have already enjoyed a few public reunions in 2020 — and it’s all thanks to their successful performances last year. Both were up for several awards for their parts in The Morning Show and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Back in January, Pitt and Aniston took home top prizes at the SAG Awards (Pitt won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role while Aniston won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series).

Backstage, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt shared a special moment as they congratulated each other on their wins. Eyewitnesses say that they said a few words to each other and even held hands for a brief moment before moving on.

“It all happened so fast, but at the same time, it felt like it was in slow motion,” a source stated. “Brad and Jen happened to pass each other in the hall, right here in front of me. Everyone was a flutter, giddy with excitement.”

That was clearly a swoon-worthy moment, but there have been plenty of other times when the two have gushed over each other in public.

Jennifer Aniston gushes about Brad Pitt

Aniston has been way more open about her split from Pitt than her former husband. In 2005, shortly after they separated, Aniston revealed that she felt “lucky” to have shared a few years with Pitt.

“I wouldn’t know what I know now if I hadn’t been married to Brad. I love Brad; I really love him. I will love him for the rest of my life,” Aniston gushed.

Fast forward a few years and Aniston once again opened up about her relationship with the Inglourious Basterds star. According to In Touch Weekly, Aniston revealed that their breakup wasn’t as bad as people thought, which is why they have been able to stay good friends.

“I mean, in the end, we really had an amicable split. It wasn’t mean and hateful and all of this stuff that they tried to create about Brad can’t talk to Jen and Jen can’t talk to Brad because this person won’t allow it. It just didn’t happen. The marriage didn’t work out,” she explained.

Jennifer Aniston added that she and Brad Pitt had a very long talk shortly after they broke up. The actress did not share any details about the conversation, but she did say that they have remained warm towards each other ever since. The interview was done in 2008 and the two have clearly gotten even closer.

Pitt complements Aniston

Pitt has also expressed kind words about Aniston over the years. In 2011, for example, Pitt praised Aniston for being a “loving and hilarious” person. He also said that he and Aniston are good friends and that he values their relationship.

While Pitt and Aniston are clearly just friends, their interactions over the past few years have led to a lot of speculation that they might get back together.

Last year, Brad Pitt was asked about the possibility of taking his friendship with Aniston to the next level. The actor laughed at the question and commented, “Oh my God.”

Just before his appearance at the 2020 Academy Awards, a reporter asked Pitt if he was going to take Aniston to the Oscars as his official date. Once again, Pitt chuckled at the question and revealed that he doesn’t have a date.

There is no telling what will happen between Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston in the coming months and years, but we cannot wait for their next adorable reunion.
