Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce proceedings continue to drag on. The former couple is expected in court on Oct. 5, to discuss how they will co-parent the six children they share. While the court hearing isn’t particularly odd, the list of witnesses slated to appear is a little strange. Along with several experts, Pitt’s lawyers are planning to call one of Jolie’s former co-stars, and fans can’t figure out why.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship timeline

Jolie and Pitt first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005. They portrayed a married couple who were hiding the fact that they were assassins from each other. Shortly after the movie wrapped filming, Pitt and his then-wife, Jennifer Aniston, announced their split. Pitt and Jolie were spotted looking cozy together shortly thereafter.

It didn’t take long for the pair to go public with their relationship. In 2006, Pitt became the adoptive father to Maddox Jolie-Pitt and Zahara Jolie-Pitt. Zahara, now 15, was adopted by Jolie in 2005. Maddox, now 19, was adopted by Jolie in 2002. In 2006, they also welcomed Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. In March 2007, the couple adopted Pax Jolie-Pitt from Vietnam. The family was completed with the arrival of Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt in 2008.

The couple married in 2014. In 2016, however, Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. In April 2019, a judge granted a request that restored Pitt and Jolie’s legal relationship status to “single,” although their divorce remains unsettled.

Pitt and Jolie both seem to want their divorce to be finalized, but there is one thing standing in their way. The former flames apparently can’t agree on how to best parent their six children. According to several sources, they have attempted to come to a custody agreement outside of court, but all mediation has failed.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Pitt is seeking a 50/50 split when it comes to the custody of the children, something Jolie reportedly opposes. The private judge presiding over the battle is also a point of contention, claims the publication.

Brad Pitt’s lawyers plan to call Jillian Armenante during the upcoming custody hearing

Us Weekly secured a list of the witnesses that Pitt’s lawyers plan to call during the custody hearing. While most of the names on the list are pretty standard, one seems to stick out. Among a slew of psychologists, security consultants, and counselors, Pitt’s lawyers plan to call Jillian Armenante.

Why is Everyone Still Obsessed with the Idea of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt Getting Back Together?

Armenante, an actor, starred alongside Jolie in two different films. They first appeared together in Girl, Interrupted. The film was released in 1999. In 2007, they appeared together again in A Mighty Heart. By the time Armenante and Jolie starred together in their second film, Pitt and Jolie were involved in a relationship.

There is no word on why Armenante is being called to the stand in the custody battle. In fact, the depth of Armenante’s relationship with both Pitt and Jolie remains unclear. When she will take the stand or if she actually will appear in court is unknown.
