Bravo’s ‘Family Karma’: Were Monica Vaswani and Her Boyfriend Rish Childhood Sweethearts? (Exclusive Clip)
Bravo‘s Family Karma viewers finally get to know Rish Karam’s family and find out if Rish and Monica Vaswani were actually childhood sweethearts.
Cameras follow Rish and Monica to Rish’s family’s home and get a taste of what a Friday night is really like for this party-loving family. “A typical Friday night at Rish’s house means the music is at full blast,” Monica describes in an exclusive clip. “All Indian Bollywood songs. Rish’s dad will not have his first drink until he does his pooja [worship]. It’s pooja, wait a little bit. And then the first drink of the night.” Monica hangs out at Rish’s family’s house and viewers get to know Rish’s parents and brothers who rib the couple about being childhood sweethearts.
‘Family Karma’ viewers meet Rish Karam’s family
Monica and Rish buzz around the house on his hoverboard while the house is filled with a flurry of activity. Rish’s brother Karan descends the grand staircase announcing he has a date. He’s rocking a jacket, announcing it is 40 degrees in Florida. “I have two brothers,” Rish explains in a confessional. “My older brother Karan, he’s like chill. Like laid back. He’s a good dancer. And then my younger brother Sonit, he’s always the trouble maker in the house.”
“And then you have Rish who’s the businessman,” Monica shares. Indeed, Rish owns Moksha Indian Brasserie. In fact, Monica had a little something to do with the menu. “Fun fact,” she dishes. “I made him do a vegan menu at the restaurant.”
The family toasts and Monica looks right at home. She hugs Rish’s mom and reveals how well she gets along with his mother. “Indians, we have this recurring theme in our soap operas where the in-laws don’t get along with the daughter-in-law. But it’s the complete opposite with this family. So when I come to the house, I feel like Lakshmi [the Goddess of Wealth].”

Meanwhile Rish’s brothers have big Friday night plans. “How about after my date I call you guys out,” Karan suggests. “And you just show up.” Monica doesn’t think Karan’s date wants to see his brother and girlfriend later that night.
But then Karan turns the tables on Rish and Monica. “What do you guys do for dates,” he questions. Monica says they really don’t go to dinner. “I’m not like a foodie like that,” she says to Rish.
Karan then jokes that he thinks Monica makes Rish do Bollywood dancing. And cue the cameras of Rish and Monica throwing down and dancing.
Then Karan wants to know if Monica and Rish always liked each other. “Always,” Monica insists. “But then … you didn’t like me?” But Rish says he has always like Monica. “I always like you,” Monica replies.
‘Family to me is the most important thing in life,” Monica says in a confessional. “I grew up with such a small family. I’m an only child. The divorce only made my family smaller. So to enter Rish’s family where they’re all so loving. It makes me excited for the future.” So … were Rish and Monica childhood sweethearts? She produces a cozy photo where they look pretty cozy during her 15th birthday.
