Anthony asks Kate a cute question before their dance in ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2

By the finale of the season, Edwina and Anthony are not getting married. Edwina realized how blind she was to the love between her sister and Anthony. She rightfully chooses not to go along with the marriage. While it is what Edwina wants, the ton is in disarray over the scandalous events.

The situation gets worse when Edwina suffers a head injury after falling from her horse. Anthony realizes he can not live without Kate, but the gossip is too much to bear. Edwina decides to forget about the ton at the Queen’s final ball and follow her heart.

Anthony says they should keep their distance, but Kate disagrees. She is tired of what the ton thinks and says they might take pity on her because of her injury. Before Anthony agrees, he asks her a simple question. How many fingers is he holding up? When Kate answers, “three,” he tricks her and shows four.

Anthony’s question might tie into his and Kate’s future from the books

A fan on Twitter noticed the small interaction between Kate and Anthony in the Bridgeton Season 2 finale means so much more. The user quotes a question done by Harper’s Bazaar in their interview with Bailey about season two and his character’s storyline.

The question asks if it was intentional that Anthony changed the finger count from three to four to give away an Easter Egg. The finger count possibly teases and relates to Anthony and Kate’s number of children in the book series.

Bailey responded with, “Yeah, of course. But maybe it’s the number of seasons that they’ll be in. You never know! We’ll have to wait and see.”

Moving forward after Bridgerton Season 2, Anthony and Kate make appearances in the following storylines. With Kate marrying into the Bridgerton name and being the lady of the house, she has a bigger role to play. It just so happens that the couple does end up having a total of four children, two girls, and two boys. Fans will have to see every Bridgerton season to see if it plays out the same.

The two lead actors of Bridgerton Season 2 have subtly confirmed they will not disappear in the following installments. Bailey teased Anthony and Kate will return to make appearances at every Bridgerton wedding. Meanwhile, Ashley confirms her character’s return.

According to Deadline, Ashley explained, “I want to keep that softness and vulnerability to Kate, for sure, and she can share that with Anthony. I’m just excited for her to have a home and to have a family. I’m excited to see her grow. I think I’d like to see Kate being much braver and less headstrong and more heart strong.”

Fans can only hope the Easter Egg, books, and actors’ responses mean more Bridgerton babies. A fan on the Twitter post explains, “I accept this mostly because its also a nice parallel to episode 1 when he was asking all the ‘candidates’ how many children then wanted.”

At the beginning of the season, Anthony is looking for a suitable bride but is rather picky. All the women try to woo him with their etiquette and ton training, but no avail. Anthony asks all of them the same question about children, but none catches his interest.
