What will season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’ be about?

Bridgerton fans know that the Netflix show is based on a series of books by Julia Quinn, with each book following a different Bridgerton child. So far, the series has followed the order of the books, with season 1 focusing on Daphne and season 2 on Anthony. If this trend continues, then Bridgerton Season 3 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton. In the book An Offer from a Gentleman, Benedict searches for a mysterious woman who he met at a masked ball.

However, Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes told ET, “We’re not necessarily going in order but we are going to be seeing each of the siblings and their stories.” Rhimes wouldn’t reveal which Bridgerton sibling season 3 will focus on. Instead, the producer stated that they “got a little bit creative so we’re already hard at work writing season 3. … That is already in progress and you’ll see. Give it time.”

When will ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 come out?

In an interview with Marie Claire Australia, Penelope Featherington actor Nicola Coughlan revealed that Bridgerton Season 3 will begin filming this summer, sometime between June and August. “We’re going to start filming this summer, I know that much,” Coughlan told the outlet. Most outlets are then estimating that Bridgerton Season 3 will drop sometime in early 2023.

Some cast members have already confirmed that they will return

Although the cast of Bridgerton Season 3 has yet to be confirmed, fans can likely expect to see the familiar faces of the Bridgerton and Featherington families. Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) are also likely to return. In Bridgerton Season 2, Anthony married Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley. The actor recently confirmed that she will have a part to play in season 3. “We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started,” she told Deadline.

Charithra Chandran portrayed Kate’s sister Edwina in season 2. Although Chandran hasn’t been confirmed to return, she does have hopes for her character’s future. “I obviously do want Edwina to find love, but I think there is a far more important story to be told first — and then love can happen — which is one of self-discovery,” Chandran told The Hollywood Reporter.

Will Simon appear in ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3?

Of course, Bridgerton fans want to know if Regé-Jean Page, the actor who played the Duke of Hastings Simon Basset, will be in Bridgerton Season 3. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Page has any intention of returning to the series. In an April 2021 interview with Variety, the actor called his role in Bridgerton a “one-season arc.”

“I have nothing but excitement for Bridgerton continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe,” he said. “But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.” Page hasn’t said anything to hint that he has changed his mind so it seems more than likely that he will not appear in season 3.
