Bridgerton first introduced Chris Fulton’s character Sir Phillip Crane in season 1. Phillip is the brother of George Crane, who was in a romantic relationship with Marina Thompson prior to the start of the show. Sir Phillip pops up again in Bridgerton Season 2, and if the show follows the books, he will have more of a role to play in the future. Here’s where you might have seen Chris Fulton prior to Bridgerton.

Chris Fulton plays Sir Phillip Crane in ‘Bridgerton’

Chris Fulton’s character Sir Phillip Crane first appears in Bridgerton under pretty unfortunate circumstances. Marina has a romantic relationship with Phillip’s brother George and becomes pregnant. Unfortunately, George dies in the war. Phillip then offers to marry Marina and support her and the baby. Although Marina is reluctant, she eventually agrees.

In Bridgerton Season 2, Colin Bridgerton visits Marina at her new home. He is surprised to find Sir Phillip very “amiable.” The pair even bond over their shared travel stories and Phillip invites him to dinner. However, later Colin confronts Marina about her marriage to a man she doesn’t love. Marina assures Colin that she is confident in her decisions.

While speaking with Decider, Colin actor Luke Newton stated that he felt Colin meeting Phillip may have been a good thing for him. “[Sir Phillip is] very much settled in his life and [Colin] met him and thought, ‘What if I could be a little bit more like that? Then maybe it wouldn’t have turned out the way it was,’” Newton said.

Here’s where you’ve seen ‘Bridgerton’ actor Chris Fulton before

According to TV Over Mind, Bridgerton actor Chris Fulton is a Scottish actor from Glasgow. In fact, Fulton acted in Scotland’s biggest budget feature film ever. Fulton portrays Euon Bruce in Outlaw King, a historical film about the 14th-century Scottish king, Robert the Bruce.

Fulton has also appeared in several notable TV shows. His first acting credit on IMDb is a guest appearance in the TV series Doctors in 2015. Since then he has made appearances in shows such as Retribution, Clique, Succession, and The Witcher.

Chris Fulton’s Bridgerton co-star Luke Newton had a good time acting alongside him in season 2. “It was really fun to work with Chris, who plays Sir Phillip,” Newton told Decider.

“We hadn’t worked together last time. We actually first met at the wrap party of Season 1. So then to come back and to be on set for a few days with him was really fun. And as the stories in the books go, his character returns many times so we’ll see what happens with that character…”

Will Chris Fulton appear in future seasons of ‘Bridgerton’?

As Newton points out, if the Bridgerton Netflix series follows the books Chris Fulton will have a much larger role in future seasons. In fact in Julia Quinn’s book To Sir Phillip, With Love, Eloise Bridgerton marries Sir Phillip Crane after the death of his wife Marina, Marie Claire says.

It’s not clear how closely the Netflix series will follow Quinn’s books. This would certainly be a tragic end for Marina, who has already suffered quite a bit throughout the series. However, fans will have to wait and see what’s next for Sir Phillip.
