After Britney Spears' request to have her father removed as her co-conservator was denied, many of her fans to social media to plead for help. Some have even begun calling on Kim Kardashian West for support as they believe she has the legal skills to help Spears amid this ongoing battle.

For the past 13 years, Britney Spears has been under the control of a conservatorship, which she recently asked to get out of amid the #FreeBritney Movement. Unfortunately, the singer’s request was denied, and she continues to have no authority over financial or personal decisions. With her conservatorship still in place, fans are now pleading for help and have called on Kim Kardashian West to offer some support.

Britney Spears just spoke publicly about her conservatorship for the first time

For half of Spears’ career as a world-renowned pop star, she hasn’t had complete control of her life.

Since 2008, the singer has been under a conservatorship helmed by her father, Jamie Spears, following her infamous breakdown, which resulted in hospitalization and rehab. Though she continued to perform and release albums, Spears has not been able to make any decisions regarding her professional or personal life since going under the conservatorship.

After hearing of her not having any control over her life, fans expressed dissatisfaction with the “Circus” singer’s situation. They launched the #FreeBritney movement in 2009, utilizing social media to bring awareness to the discrepancies surrounding the conservatorship.

For the last 12 years, fans have kept the movement alive, calling out those conservators overseeing Spears’ personal affairs. Though she’s remained quiet about the conservatorship over the years, the singer recently spoke out against her conservatorship in court.

While attended the hearing virtually by phone on June 23, the Grammy winner launched a blistering attack on the “abusive” conservatorship that has controlled her life for 13 years. Not only did she call her situation “abusive” and “traumatizing,” but Spears also called out her father for not allowing her to live the life she wants.

“Basically, this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life. I’ve worked my whole life,” she told the judge, per CNN. “I feel ganged up on, I feel bullied, I feel left out and alone. I’m tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody.”

She added, “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and it’s enough.”

Following this news, fans and fellow celebrities took to social media to applaud Spears for speaking up and using her voice. While many plan to continue standing behind the singer, others have been looking for ways to help her amid this ongoing conservatorship battle.

One person who some think can lend a helping hand to Spears is Kardashian West.

Seeing as the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is studying to become a lawyer and has helped free several inmates amid her prison reform efforts, fans think that she’s the perfect person to support the “…Baby One More Time” singer.
