Comedian, UFC commentator, and podcaster Joe Rogan is under fire following the resurfacing of a scandalous 2011 clip from The Joe Rogan Experience. The clip features comedian Joey Diaz telling a lurid story about requiring women to perform oral sex in order to get stage time at The Belly Room. During the clip, Rogan laughs uproariously at Diaz’s comments, and now both are facing scrutiny. Chelsea Peretti took to Twitter to point out how this is a repeat issue in the comedy world while blasting the two comedians.

Comedian Joey Diaz is a regular on The Joe Rogan Experience, and one of his 2011 appearances is resulting in major backlash. The clip recently resurfaced online, and features Diaz telling a story about how he required women comics to perform oral sex to earn stage time.

Diaz tells Joe Rogan, “You think I’m f*cking kidding you? F*ck yeah, you gotta suck my d*ck to get up in The Belly Room. I’m makin’ a call for you. That’s the f*cking gateway for coming into Hollywood, everybody knows that.”

Diaz the added, “I had this little blonde open mic chick … and just take me up to The Belly Room and suck my d*ck and then go do her set, she was tremendous. She finally freaked out. When she got to Hollywood bro, she was beautiful. But when she left, she had dirty f*ckin’, her nails were dirty. And then she wrote me a letter to The Comedy Store. ‘You c*cksucker you broke me.’” Diaz laughed as he discussed the letter.

Joe Rogan also joined in, laughing uproariously and clapping his hands when Diaz revealed that he’d done this to many women. He also laughs and claps when Diaz talks about the letter he received.

Sexism and sexual harassment have been problems in comedy for a long time, and many comics are fed up with it. Comedian and television star Chelsea Peretti of Brooklyn Nine-Nine took to Twitter to point out how disgusted she is with the entire situation.

Peretti wrote several tweets about the ongoing problem in comedy. “I’ve been told women aren’t funny since day 1 of comedy, in backhanded compliments after shows, on YouTube comments, Twitter, Facebook, airplane skywriting for my birthday…,” wrote Peretti.

She added, “And I often wonder if the guys who love comedy so much wud love it if when they went to do sets every night it was 20 women and 1 guy on the show [sic].”

Peretti also called out Joe Rogan’s lack of action. She wrote, “If you’re a male comedian one thing you can do is tell men to shut the f*ck up when they are saying hateful sh*t about women. & not go on podcasts that are racist & sexist you can also speak up for women getting attacked online for sticking up for themselves. Or….total silence.”

Rogan re-tweeted Diaz’s comment.
