BTS is currently one of the most popular boy bands in the world

BTS is considered one of the most popular boy bands in the world by many metrics. In 2019, they were the most searched boy band on Google, beating out groups like the Jonas Brothers, One Direction, and the Backstreet Boys. Additionally, they are also the most popular group on social media, with fans on every continent following their every move and promoting them on different platforms.

It’s also worth mentioning that BTS’s view counts on YouTube are impressive as well. Their top videos have hundreds of millions of views, proving that their music has far reaches.

BTS has talked about how fame affects them

With BTS’s level of popularity, it’s clear they have experienced both the negative and positive sides of fame.

For example, they once spoke to Paper Magazine about how amazing it is that fans all over the world love their music as well as how “important” and “meaningful” it is that they can perform for so many people.

On the other hand, this much attention also makes them feel “pressured” to act a certain way. They are aware the public is watching their every move, which means they need to present themselves well in order to prevent harsh criticism and career-breaking scandals.

Member Jungkook told Paper Magazine: “I realized that I should think twice before I do anything, and not forget where I am, no matter what situation I may be in. The pressure [of being perfect] is always there.”

Meanwhile, Suga also shared in their 2020 docu-series, Break the Silence, that their lack of privacy has affected him deeply.

“I’m really jealous of people who can go out to eat, travel, go to the movies with friends, and things like that,” he said. “Those things are really special to me because I find them hard to do.”

Why the BTS Members Don’t Have Their Own Twitter and Instagram Accounts

At this point, it is extremely difficult for BTS to go outside whenever and wherever they want. However, they have found ways to alleviate this problem and allow themselves to enjoy a semblance of normal life.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2019, the guys revealed that they try to not go out as a whole unit. Leader RM shared that, because they are “seven boys with dyed hair,” they can catch a lot of attention, so they often leave their accommodations in small groups.

Additionally, when they go to the movies, they try to catch either the earliest or latest showing as there tends to be less people around. BTS also utilized the internet whenever they can and shop online instead of going to physical stores.
