BTS comeback season is officially here. Per usual, the septet — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — has plenty in store for ARMY as the Map of the Soul: 7 release approaches. Within the past week, the South Korean group unveiled Suga’s “Interlude: Shadow” comeback trailer and launched “Connect, BTS.” Now, iHeartRadio announced a BTS live show to discuss their upcoming album in Los Angeles. And the air date for the event has fans curious about a potential appearance or performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

BTS announces a new comeback album

On Jan. 7, Big Hit Entertainment revealed BTS’ upcoming album, Map of the Soul: 7, will be released on Feb. 21, 2020. The company also announced the comeback schedule — or “map” — to illustrate what to expect in the upcoming weeks.

According to the schedule, BTS will break up events into four phases. And within each phase contains important releases, such as the first single on Jan. 17, the comeback trailer for “Ego” on Feb. 3, and the official music video for the lead single on Feb. 28.

The comeback map also left room for the South Korean band to fill their schedule with other events, including the last weekend of January.

iHeartRadio LIVE with BTS to air on Jan. 27

On Jan. 14, iHeartRadio announced a live show event with BTS on Monday, Jan. 27. The show, presented by Hot Topic, will be filmed at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles and be available to livestream on The CW App and The CW’s website starting at 9 p.m. ET.

According to the iHeartRadio website, BTS “will open up about their forthcoming new album and more during an exclusive interview with 102.7 KIIS FM’s JoJo Wright.” The group is also expected to answer a few fan questions.

ARMY thinks BTS might perform at the 2020 Grammys because of the iHeartRadio LIVE event date

After Big Hit Entertainment dropped the comeback schedule for Map of the Soul: 7, BTS fans wondered whether the group planned to appear at the 62nd Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. As many members of ARMY noticed, the first single drops merely a week before the event. The group also has nothing planned on the date.

Recently, the Grammy Awards announced the first wave of performers, including Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Lizzo, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Aerosmith, and host Alicia Keys. Then on Jan. 14, Demi Lovato was added to the growing list. And the CBS program will continue to reveal more performers in the upcoming weeks.

Now, as iHeartRadio LIVE with BTS is set to air on Jan. 26 — a day after the 2020 Grammys — fans are once again speculating the group will perform or at least appear at the ceremony, especially since they’re already expected to be in L.A.

“So it seems very possible they will be at the Grammy’s as they will be in the US the day after,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Now we need to find out if they’ll just be presenting again or performing. I’m leaning towards a performance but I’m hoping it’s a solo performance over a collab stage.”

Meanwhile, other fans noted BTS will release their first single a week before the Grammys. So if the band does have the opportunity to perform, ARMY is hoping for a comeback stage.

bts performing a comeback single (that’s not even the title track) at the grammys would be insane promotion for the album,” a fan wrote on Twitter.

Despite the nomination snubs, a BTS comeback performance at the 2020 Grammys would still be massively impactful, given the exposure of the ceremony. And although nothing has been confirmed, fans hope their theories come true. But even if nothing comes of it, ARMY can still look forward to more comeback news on Jan. 27. So stay tuned.
