Cara Delevingne carved a niche as a model and actor, but it doesn’t mean she can’t get real when tested. The Suicide Squad star has a reputation for a feisty, candid tone that sometimes turns the heads of others. One of these interviews with a Sacramento news program went viral in 2015. And years later, it still comes up occasionally.

Cara Delevingne’s bad interview

Delevingne was on Good Day Sacramento to promote her film Paper Towns. However, things got off to a bumpy start when one of the hosts called her Carla in the introductions. The hosts wasted no time asking her if she read the source material and related it to her performance. Taken aback, Delevingne answered with a little side of sarcasm.

“No, I never read the book or the script, actually. I kind of winged it,” the star joked before confirming she did read the book and loved it.

Delevingne provided similarly sarcastic answers to the follow-up questions. Sensing her snarkiness, the hosts became more combative toward Delevingne. And the interview took a dive.

“I saw you in London talking a couple of weeks ago on TV, and you seemed a lot more excited about it than you do right now,” questioned one of the hosts. “Are you just exhausted?”

Here, the interview took an awkward turn. Delevingne responded defensively. “No, I mean, I’m still very excited,” she replied. “The premiere was last night. It was an emotional night. It felt like the end of an era. But I’m not any less excited than I was a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I had a bit more energy. It’s the morning,” she said, clearly annoyed.

She then cut the interview short. The hosts commented on Delevigne’s perceived rudeness, stating that they thought it was a joke until they realized it wasn’t.

The internet never relents

The internet pounces any time a notable person displays a little feistiness. And this time was no exception. Some people were offended by her antics. According to The Wrap, Whoopi Goldberg called Delevingne “unprofessional” for her antics. Goldberg’s The View co-host at the time, Nicole Wallace, was more pointed with her language.

The Carnival Row actor shrugged it off, “Some people just don’t understand sarcasm or the British sense of humour,” she tweeted. While the story was the talk of the town for a moment, it wasn’t egregious enough to bring her down. It also wasn’t the only time her antics received extra attention.

While it’s easy to critique Delevingne for her behavior toward those hosts, the actor shows a sense of humor every time she gets candid. SCMP broke down ways that Delevingne showed off her peculiar sense of humor.

Delevingne is not afraid to put herself out there in the name of comedy, but some still find it overbearing and rude. At the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, she notoriously ogled Megan Thee Stallion on the red carpet. The rapper later added fuel to the fire by cropping the model out of a photo that she was initially in. Furthermore, Delevingne’s drunken performance at Azealia Banks’ birthday party also garnered attention.

Whether this is a case of an out-of-touch celebrity lacking people skills or someone’s awkward sense of humor failing to land, Delevingne knows how to get attention. Her patented attitude may come out any time she sees a chance to let it shine.
