Musical artist Cardi B and conservative commentator Candace Owens are once again at war on Twitter, and this time things are getting personal. The alleged “winner” of their recent fight varies depending on which news outlets you follow. But either way, it’s clear these two are not happy with each other.

And unlike last time, when the drama just died down for a bit, Owens is threatening legal action for slander due to some remarks Cardi B made about her brother. Here’s what happened.

Candace Owens slammed Cardi B’s Grammy ‘WAP’ performance

The undisputably most talked-about moment from the 2021 Grammy Awards was seeing Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performing their hit single “WAP” live on stage. Many viewers applauded their performance as a sex-positive display of female empowerment. But Owens was part of the opposite camp, saying the suggestive dancing and message was a step backward.

The 31-year-old conservative activist appeared on Fox News to give Tucker Carlson her take. According to CNN, she said the Grammys performance was, “an attack on American values, American traditions” and that Cardi B was “actively trying to make children aspire to things that are grotesque.”

“We are celebrating perversity in America,” Owens concluded.

Instead of being offended by Owens’ critique, Cardi B tweeted out her excitement at getting more exposure for the song. “Yaaaayyyyyyy WE MADE FOX NEWS GUYS !!! Wap wap wap,” the performing artist wrote.

This spurred a lengthy back and forth between the two women on Twitter that took a serious turn. First, Cardi B reiterated her claim that parents should be responsible for the content their children were seeing. She had previously said similar statements in the past and even said her young daughter, Kulture, was not permitted to hear the song “WAP.”

“Only you can monitor what your kids watch [no one] else,” Cardi B wrote on Twitter.

“I take issue with you being used to encourage young women to strip themselves of dignity,” Owens responded. Then Cardi B sent a nude photo of former First Lady Melania Trump to illustrate her point.

Cardi B made claims about Candace Owens’ brother and husband

The fight may have remained mostly harmless except for when Cardi B brought up an old tweet involving Owens’ brother. The tweet in question said, “Yes, my husband did cheat on me with my brother. Yes, he said no when I asked to join them.”

Cardi B wrote, “Not you talking about two women thrusting their vaginas together while your husband and brother slap c***s and b***s together. WELL WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT! wow.”

Owens replied that Cardi B should retract the claim since the original tweet was faked in Photoshop. “I am literally laughing out loud. Cardi. My dear. That is clearly a photoshopped tweet. Only one of us has a husband that sleeps around,” Owens replied. But instead, the “Bodak Yellow” artist doubled down, citing several publications who verified the original tweet as real.

Ultimately, Owens promised she would take legal action against Cardi B for pushing the claim.

“Yes. Just spoke with my family. I am 100% suing Cardi for that nonsense. You can’t just start throwing out wild lies against private members of my family because you’re upset someone called your [sic] out on your degenerate performance. I‘ll keep you all posted,” Owens wrote in a tweet.

For now, it’s unclear what’s true and false, from the claims to the tweets. But it sounds like this feud is far from over.

Reps for Cardi B and Candace Owens did not return requests for comment about the legal action proceedings by the time of publication.
