She’s spoken openly about getting breast implants and liposuction to maintain her figure. However, Cardi’s most hilarious (and terrifying) account of plastic surgery is her butt injections.
The Bronx-born rapper decided to get butt injections long before she was famous and had any real wealth. In fact, her story about her cheap butt injections serves as a cautionary tale for anyone who is trying to get cosmetic services done outside of a professional doctor’s office.
Cardi B isn’t ashamed of her past
Cardi B has never been someone to hide her past. She began stripping as a way to make money when she was 19 and in an abusive relationship. Her manager at the deli she was working at actually suggested she switch career paths. “He was like, ‘You’re so pretty, you got a nice body,'” Cardi told Fader. “He told me to go across the street to New York Dolls, the strip club. That’s when I started stripping.”
Though she did not strip for very long, Cardi does credit her time at the strip club for helping her escape her abusive living situation. “I was living with my boyfriend who was beating my a**,” she explained in a 2016 interview with VLAD TV. “Stripping gave me my own money to leave him.”
Cardi B wanted to get butt injections to make more money as a stripper
After getting her own money which enabled her to afford to get her own place, Cardi began focusing on her music career. However, she needed more money to invest in herself and create her mixtape. She thought having a large buttocks would allow her to collect more tips from her clients.
“Once upon a time I was working in a strip club,” she told Global Grind. “I seen girls that was hella ugly, but they were still making more money than me because they had big ole’ butts and my a** didn’t look like that. I mean, I was purdy, my outfit was on deck, I smelled good, my underarms were clean, everything was clean, you know what I’m saying? Skin smooth and all that. But I still wasn’t making that much money because I didn’t have no a** like that. Then my man at the time, cheated on me with a light skin b*tch with a big ole a**. So I said, ‘You know what? I’m down with that. I’m finna go get my a** done.'”
Cardi B paid $800 for her butt injections
Cardi decided to go get her butt injections from a woman in Queens who was giving the shots in her basement. She paid the woman $800 for butt fillers and it was the worst experience of her life.
“They don’t numb your ass with anything,” she told GQ. “It was the craziest pain ever. I felt like I was gonna pass out. I felt a little dizzy. And it leaks for, like, five days.”
After enduring the pain, the Invasion of Privacy rapper was still pleased with the results and even wanted to return for a touch-up. “But by the time I was gonna go get it, the lady got locked up ’cause she’s supposedly killed somebody,” she explained to GQ. “Well—somebody died on her table.”
