It’s no secret that Cardi B and Offset’s marriage has been riddled with ups and downs. In fact, Offset’s infidelity has caused the couple to split in the past. However, they were able to reconcile and seemingly work through their issues.

In fact, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it appeared that the pair were getting along well. They were together on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and they celebrated their daughter, Kulture‘s second birthday together in July.

Unfortunately, rumors of Offset’s cheating have continued to persist. Now, it appears that the “WAP” rapper has had enough and it could get very ugly.

Cardi B had decided to end her marriage to Offset and file for divorce

In a move that seemingly came out of blue, Cardi has filed for divorce from Offset, her husband of nearly three years. Though the pair have split in the past, no legal paperwork was ever filed previously.

According to People, the Bronx-born rapper filed for divorce in Atlanta on Sept. 15. In the documents, she states that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” The divorce filing notes that “there are no prospects for reconciliation.”

Cardi has been open about talking about the challenges of marriage. “When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me. But it’s real-life s—” she told Vogue.

Cardi B says she’s done ‘wasting her time’

Though Cardi has not yet said anything publically about her divorce, she did hint that she was done with the marriage shortly before filing. In a recent Instagram story, she posted a meme that read,  “Her heart finally told her to stop wasting her time. It’s time.”

Now fans are certain that the “Money” rapper was referencing her marriage. In Feb 2018, Cardi told Cosmopolitan she was dedicated to working things out with Offset. She said,

It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.’ I don’t have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my s*** with my man, and I don’t got to explain why.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Offset was ready to be a husband.

Cardi B and Offset’s divorce could get ugly

Though Cardi B and Offset have nearly identical net worths at $24 million and $26 million respectively, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the divorce could get very ugly.

According to the divorce filing, Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is listed as the plaintiff while Offset (né Kiari Kendrell Cephus) is listed as the defendant. The divorce is contested, which means it can be challenged by either side, and Cardi is asking for primary physical custody and legal custody of Kulture as well as spousal support.

While neither Offset nor Cardi have spoken about the divorce publically, that could all change, especially if Offset challenges any of Cardi’s requests.
