Cardi B is enjoying another hit with her latest single, “WAP,” a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion. Fans are still waiting for the rapper to release another full album. It has been two years since Invasion of Privacy and even longer since her mix tapes.

Cardi B spoke with Zach Sang on his Just the Interviews podcast on Aug. 7. She explained why her fans are going to have to wait until next year to get her full album.

Cardi B has more collaborations planned, but those take time

One reason Cardi B hasn’t put together a full album yet is that she’s working on more collaborations. If they’re all as powerful as “WAP,” they’ll be worth waiting for.

“I’m still working on my album,” she told Sang. “I’ve got a lot of songs but I feel like I’m missing certain songs and I gotta start sending these songs that I think artists fit, like the artist and everything. There are some songs that I be like yo, all I need is this person on this song. I just hear this person on this song. This song is this person. So I gotta start sending them out.”

More importantly, Cardi B won’t release an album until it’s safe to tour with it

2020 has shut down live performances. Concert tours that were already in progress got delayed. Others got postponed before they even started. Cardi B is going to wait until the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic passes, so she can tour with her second album.

“The world right now is really weird,” she said. “I don’t know how I feel about putting an album out, not touring. I couldn’t even tour on my last album because I was pregnant. This time I want to tour. I want to go on tour.”

Here’s proof a tour is going to be awesome

It’s not like Cardi B has never performed live before. She has, and those one off shows give you a taste of how epic a full tour could be.

“I feel like it’s a challenge to conquer but then again I have done my own shows,” she said. “Every single time, not even festivals, I have done my own shows that I’m the headliner that it is only a Cardi B concert and I sold out arenas. The festivals, I try my best and I get paid a lot because they know I bring people out. There’s a high demand for me because I bring people out.”

Going city to city, by tour bus, is the experience Cardi B wants.

“Now I just can’t wait to really experience that super duper tour, that bus life, that show people look at this is Cardi and go ham and cheese on me,” she said. “I can’t wait. I’m so excited. That’s what I want to do. I want to meet my fans. I have met so many people on tour that have became almost like friends, that I talk to on my social media like friends that I met. I met so many great people and I want to keep meeting people.”
