Country music phenom and eight-time Grammy award winner Carrie Underwood is back with a new studio album, with a bolder sparkle than ever before. The singer-songwriter declares this is her era of denim and rhinestones, matching the latest album title with a prescribed dress code reminiscent of the golden age of country music

Underwood is preparing for her upcoming album tour, along with pop-up events encouraging fans to get into the dazzling, fun-loving spirit evoked in many of the album’s songs. If the reception on social media is anything to judge, it’s safe to say Underwood’s fans are here for it.

It’s been 17 years since Underwood first became a household name by winning American Idol and releasing numerous hit singles and albums since. The “Cry Pretty” singer is the youngest performer ever inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, a high honor at any age in the country music sphere.

With “Denim & Rhinestones,” Underwood said she wanted to usher in a new era of her music that’s lighthearted and fun, with the chance to sparkle a bit. “It’s a fun album. It’s upbeat, it’s positive,” Underwood said in an interview with Good Morning America. She added, “It’s got some of my absolute favorite songs I’ve ever written and recorded.”

Underwood said she first proposed the “Denim & Rhinestones” single as the album title because she knew how fun it would be to bring those textiles to life in a new way, both on tour and with fans. She noted that in fashion there’s no short supply of either material right now. And her goal is to “bring the bling” in her music and on stage, according to an interview with Extra

Fans can’t get enough of the latest bejeweled offering from the country music star

Underwood announced the album release on Instagram on June 10. She included not-so-subtle references to many of the tracks on the 12-song volume. “Today’s the day!,” she wrote. “Put on your Denim & Rhinestones, call up your fellow Crazy Angels, grab a glass of Pink Champagne and listen to my new album!”

It seems her fans did just that — and loved what they heard. “Nothing like a Carrie Underwood album to lift my spirits,” one fan wrote. “This album is so damn good,” another chimed in. Several listeners added which favorite songs were already on repeat, with “She Don’t Know,” “Poor Somebody Else,” and “Pink Champagne” all receiving personal votes.

Underwood will kick off a year-long tour following this album’s release in October. The “Ghost Story” performer said she can’t wait to be back on tour and interacting with fans again.

“You don’t really know how much you love it until you can’t do it,” she said in the GMA interview. “I’ve missed being out on the road so much. With this album and the songs that are on there, it’s just going to be so much fun to get back out there.”

Unlike on previous tours, Underwood’s two sons won’t be joining her as frequently this time around. Underwood and her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, share Isaiah, 7, and Jacob, 3. With Isaiah going into second grade, Underwood explained in a separate GMA interview, so the goal will be to keep the boys at home more for a consistent routine. However, she plans to have them join her on some weekends. And she’ll swing through Nashville frequently between tour stops to see them. Per usual, she said she’s “juggling all the things” as she promotes her latest music.
