We really thought that Channing Tatum and Jessie J would go the distance. Not only did they look good together, but they appeared to have a really strong connection. They proved they were willing to do whatever it took to make it work when they reconciled earlier in the year following a brief split. But it appears that things just didn’t pan out the way they had hoped.

Multiple outlets reported on April 4 that the stars had decided to end things just months after they made up — and this one appears to be permanent. So what happened? Let’s look back at their relationship and their recent split.

The beginning of Channing Tatum and Jessie J’s relationship

Tatum and Jessie J were romantically linked in October 2018 when they were seen playing mini-golf. A source told Entertainment Tonight the same month that the romance was “very new” and that Tatum had become really fond of the “Price Tag” singer.

Things seemed to be going great as their relationship progressed. They made their relationship Instagram-official that November and showed their love for each other in flirty comments and other social media posts.

By March, there were reports that Tatum and Jessie J had been talking about marriage. But just as people were expecting him to pop the question, they broke up. Sources told People in December that their busy schedules had made it difficult to continue the relationship.

“He is super busy with his career and as a dad,” the source said of Tatum, who shares a daughter, Everly, with his ex Jenna Dewan. “He has a world awaiting him and is trying to manage how busy he is which isn’t easy.”

“[Channing] has a lot on his plate right now and wants to be the best dad possible which means he needs to be around when he isn’t traveling for his own work,” the source added.

Channing Tatum and Jessie J reconciled a month later

In January, the pair seemed fine and happy to be back together. Tatum shared an Instagram photo of them cuddling while Jessie J wrote on the platform that she was feeling “happiness from the inside out” along with a clip of her and Tatum kissing.

“I love you so much baby @channingtatum,” she captioned the video. “The way you love me and the way I love you and the way we feel it is all that matters.”

They went on to share lots of romantic content as they spent Valentine’s Day together, including an apparent video of them on a date. But somewhere over the next few weeks, they decided to split up again.

Why Channing Tatum and Jessie J broke up a second time

Neither Tatum or Jessie J has addressed the reports surrounding their breakup, at the time of this writing. However, sources have said that the split stemmed from the realization that they were better off apart.

“They cared enough about each other to try again but realized it was better to move on,” a source told People on April 4. “It’s totally amicable.”

An insider echoed those sentiments to E! News, telling the outlet that “they had tried again to make it work but realized they were better off as friends.”

We know some of you are pretty disappointed to see this outcome. But on the bright side, at least they’re still friends.
